Looking Down Whilst Ceiling Walking

Try binding a key to <b>+moveup</b>. It's a bit weird on the walls, but it means that if you're on the ceiling and looking more than 90 degrees down, you can use it to move forward along the ceiling (just let go of your <b>+forward</b> key or you'll fall). Therefore, by swapping around and using both keys, you can look in any direction you please whilst still being able to travel forward along the ceiling. Knowing when to swap between using your <b>+forward</b> key and <b>+moveup</b> key is easy enough to handle once you experiment with it for a little while.
Try binding <b>+moveup</b> to <i>MOUSE3</i> or something, so that you can easily reach it as well as your <b>+forward</b> key.
<a href='http://www.nothing.f9.co.uk/moveup.zip' target='_blank'>Here</a> is a demo of this.
EDIT: If you don't know how to bind a key to <b>+moveup</b>, you can do it through the NS controls menu. You need to bind it to the <b>Swim up</b> control.

Hmm, i always (when looking down on a ceiling) hold down backwards so it walks you into the ceiling, allowing you to move around whilst looking down, albeit backwards.
Sorry. I don't know what the problem is. Works fine for me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> I've just recorded a new demo and uploaded it, so try the link again. Might work this time.
And yes, I know you can strafe and move backwards along the ceiling. I do this too. This is about being able to move forwards, hence:

If you're looking at the wall (up to 90 degrees left or right), you can climb the wall by looking more than 90 degrees downwards and pressing <b>+moveup</b>. There is no way to climb the wall using the normal movement keys, whilst looking in this direction, without falling off the wall, but you can do it with <b>+moveup</b> fine. Also, if you're looking more than 90 degrees upwards then you will do a little jump off the wall, which might be quite handy in a battle.
If you're looking away from the wall (up to 90 degrees left or right), you can climb the wall by looking more than 90 degrees upwards (rather than downwards) and pressing <b>+moveup</b>. Again, there is no way to climb the wall using the normal movement keys, whilst looking in this direction, without falling off the wall, but you can do it with <b>+moveup</b> perfectly. This time, looking more than 90 degrees downwards (rather than upwards) will make you do the little jump off the wall.
The further up or down you look the slower you will climb up the wall, so try not to look directly up or down (which will move you at zero speed). Try to just edge the mouse up or down slightly if you want to climb in this way. This is the same with the ceiling walk. The further down you are looking, the faster you will walk along the ceiling.
<b>+movedown</b> does everything I said here but in reverse. It will make you do the little jump when looking away and upwards from a wall, rather than away and downwards. It will also make you walk along the ceilings backwards if you're looking down, but only if you're looking DIRECTLY downwards. If you're not it'll just make you fall off (not sure why). You can already move backwards on the ceilings whilst looking down anyway, so there is no real point in binding <b>+movedown</b> as it only lets you do things which you can already do with <b>+back</b>.

And after pressing ctrl for about 3492 times in the first 5 minutes of a match I think it gets a little tedious anyway.

Why not do it more like a ladder then? Ladders don't make you fall off them by looking away and walking forward. The only way to detach yourself is to get to the end of the ladder or jump off it, and when you jump you get a nice distance from the ladder which I think would be perfect.
I heard the wallwalking code was taken from the ladder code. If so, why was it edited to be different? Was there a problem with the way it was? If not, I'd prefer to have to jump off a wall or ceiling like ladders. If you can't jump because its a corridor (you'd just attach onto the other wall), you could always crouch to negate the wallwalking code and just fall from the wall directly downwards.
Yes but I am talking about ladders here.
Because im 99% sure I tried this and couldnt get it.
And asked about it and everyone would say just walk backwards.
Because I wanted to be able to be on a wall and look down like 45º, and climb up.
I know tapping +duck will let you slide down.

So it's bad because people would forget to press ctrl? They'd adapt, and it would provide more flexibility while running around. And it's not like ctrl is horribly out of reach. It's the crouch button. Just a tap of the pinkie finger and you're off the ceiling.
