Layout problems

<div class="IPBDescription">Layout block!</div>Hey, I'm trying to make a map for NS (or atleats make a feeble attempt at a decent one), so I figured I'd do it the normal way: layout on paper first, basic structure, details.
Well, I appear to be stuck on the layout part. I know what the basic structure of the ship is, and where/what 3 rooms are. I also know another room I need, but not where to put it.So basically I know <a href="http://kidzelda.homestead.com/files/ns_something.jpg" target="_blank">this</a>.Note that the ship size and shape are STC, but that's the basic idea.Please help me on this, as I want to make a map, but I'm having trouble with layout.Maybe some ideas about what rooms need to be there?

    I would recommend you read thorugh the guidelines and as you do that you try to draw a more detailed layout... reading while drawing gives you all information you need how you should connect rooms and stuff... that's how I did it when working on the ns_cruisecontrol layout

    No, I mean I'm having trouble coming up with a layout, like writer's block (cant write very well), only with layouts.I can't be more specific because I can't think of anything !!

    I don't really understand what you need :/ drawing layouts needs you to be creative and reading through the guidelines while drawing should support your creativity, or do you want us to make you a more detailed layout?

    I have the same lol, it will go away (with me it does) when i play some games.
    And its a hell to really work according to a predrawn layout... SO DONT

    well u need to be creative to make a layout there arent any manuals or hints bout that........ just take a look at other ppl maps so u can "inspirate" from them.......

    Then could someone atleast tell me what kind of rooms I need. I have the engine rooms, tyhe bridge, and hte docking bay. But like what other kinds of rooms do I need? Like mess hall, waste storage, etc.

    Pick a location first. Space station? Outpost on a planet? Ship of some kind? Underground caverns (very hard to do)?

    Then once you have your location picked, you should be able to think of what rooms you need.

    It's a starship right?  What kind of starship?  Function defines form.  The function of the ship will define it's form (it's interior spaces).

    Bast is a refinary ship.  It has steam generators, a big  drill, a refinary, airlocks so cargo ships can load/unload.

    Hydra is an attack ship.  It has torpedo tubes, an armory and a medical facility.

    Mainly I would advice you to design it's gameflow first then add a theme on afterwards.  It's much more difficult turning a realistic starship/spacestation into a playable map than a playable map into a credable starship.

    Well, your location is apperently a spaceship... Perhaps a military one?
    Some Ammunition depots?
    Torpedo-shafts?
    Dormatories(?) for the crew?
    Training-Area for the Soldiers?
    A docking-bay with small Combat-Ships?
    A Shield-generator that generates a defense-shield?
    Repair-Station for Robots/Mechs?
    Entertainment-Things for the higher ranks?
