<div class="IPBDescription">memory corruption?</div> Ok so apparently VAC has been activated for linux servers, but whenever I try to join mine, or any other for that matter, I am told I have "memory corruption" Anyone know how to remedy this? <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Where'd you see that?

    From the Official 2.0 FAQ:
    <!--QuoteBegin--Flayra+--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Flayra)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Where is VALVe Anti-Cheat (VAC)?
    We didn't have time to test this properly by the 2.0 deadline. We decided that it was better to get NS 2.0 in the hands of the public instead of holding it up for this. The code has been done for this, and all we have to do is test it fully, to make sure it doesn't cause problems. It will come out in a patch to be released in the near future (though an exact time isn't available, it's not going to be months or anything).<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    I'm not familiar with whatever that error message indicates, but as per my quote above, <b>there is no VAC support in NS2.0</b>.

    All the linux servers I play on, including my own, work fine. The admin of the server you indicated needs to fix his setup. If he has 'secure "1"' is his liblist.gam, it needs to be changed to 'secure "0"'.

    Well, why turn VAC on for it ? Just creates work for us server admins

    Keep it off till it works .. turning it on is welcome, but not at the expense of getting black listed cause its slightly confused (it sends you off to counter-strike.net/cheats.html as well).

    Is there any math I could read about the accuracy of the guns?

    Some people appear to never miss the bullseye when they hold fire down. for the rest, its a case of spray and pray.

    If the math was such that only 60% of shots hit home, I could start to give 100% accurate players some stick. At the moment, I have to keep saying 'nice shot' and I really wanna be saying that as they are damned good, not augmented.

    x3 HMGs on one onos with three hives and carpace = toasted onos in about 4 seconds. I like that, it promoted the team play :-)

    Yeah, just as an official word, VAC isn't supported yet. I have no idea what will happen if you set secure 1, but it can't do anything good. The client.dll has to be encrypted properly for VAC before it can work, so I have no idea what it would do in the mean-time.

    NS v2.1 will support VAC, and is almost ready to start testing.
