Problems With Gamma/contrast

Everytime i join a server, the Gamma and Contrast seems too go up considerably, and i cant see well.

apparently, NS, is somehow altering the gamma and contrast ON LOG ON TOO A SERVER. But for some reason, it doesnt register any change on the Video Card settings, nor the HL display settings. What gives? How do i stop it from changing it like that?

My display settings are good w/ the other games, and i bet they would be good for this game, if NS wouldnt change it on me.

That is part of how NS makes the game more visually appealing - it's called gamma overbrightning. If it becomes too bright and washed out, it's becuase you have your monitor brightness and contrast set way high. That's why on your Natural Selection start menu their is a small app called 'Tune Gamma'. Use that to set your monitor correctly.

Thats all very nice, but theres one problem: When HL crashes when playing NS, then ALL games (and desktop) i run are too bright, is there any way of resetting it? Resetting it in graphic card control panel works just on desktop, when some 3D game starts, contrast goes waaay up. Temporarily lowering monitor contrast doesnt helps much, because the SW contrast works differently than the monitors. Only thing i foud to help is restarting the computer, is there any other way?

Uh, you could use the Reset Gamma shortcut on the Natural Selection start menu folder. It's right next to the adjust gamma shortcut I just pointed out.

    /me walks off grumbling

I know this, too! Once my ns crashed, the gamma was very high!
I tried to play without restart my computer, but when it crashed again I only saw white, and a bit grey with red green blue or yellow....... <!--emo&--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo-->
