What's witht he evolve thing?
Erm, what? I just played my first 2.01c game today as alien... why must you be right next to a hive to evolve? Why are HMG's doing like, 2x damage? And why does it now take 4 gores to kill a jetpacker?
I'm glad this is beta, and I am NOT whining... but Flay, c'mon man... aliens are screwed if they can't adapt in the field....
And IS this just a test of alien adaptibility? If so, will the marines be getting one too?

1) Run. Lots. With insane parameters.
2) Analyze end behavior with insane parameters.
3) Hypothesize/extrapolate.
4) Repeat 1-3 until satisfied.
5) Propose solution.
6) Test.
We're still on 1-3 right now, I'm pretty sure.
And, I don't think marines will be "getting one" so much as Flayra will begin making patches designed specifically for balance, and not just for general testing.
And, this is very much in the wrong forum.

omg you are so smart
Lovely flame.
Apparently.
At least now having tested this hive evolution business he'll know how it affects gameplay in a general sense.
Everything they learn about the dynamics helps, even if it's not a final feature.
Everyone please just chill OUT!

ok i sort of agree with you but we arent on step 1-3 we are in step 4.. which is rinse and repeat...
Look at the a,b,c patches. all they do is nerfing movement/agility/flexibility.
Well movement chambers are way more powerfull than sensory chambers with just a bit of teamwork and offensive gorges, most ns players just did not found out jet.
Ive seen lots of shootgun and other attacks die in movement firtst, they cant hear you, they cant aim at your speed, they cant reach a hive that gets defended by movement chamber using aliens that rush in.
Marine sesource towers die quick by fast er bilebombing gorges.
Coordinated defense is almost impossible to break.
fast flexible gorges can heal-defend anywere.
The alien teams flexibility is overpowered when its coordinated correctly.
So flay is doing good, only bad parts are:
- hes going more and more far nerfing movement chambers just to TRY OUT if its better or worse, anf if its worse he learns how much worse it is. It doesnt matter IF he goes too far, the question is "WHEN does he go too far"
- noob aliens dont know how powerfull movement chambers are.
- noob ns players (we all are) moan about testing ways to improve ballance of a free modification.
