Blue Screen With XP And SB-live?

I've heard about someone that has reported a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with NS 2.0, under Windows XP Service Pack 1, and a Sound-Blaster Live card. If you have the same setup, could you please respond to this poll?

Yes, I am having this problem (not sure if it relatated to SB Live though) I can play 2-5 mins or so, then I get the BSOD (which automatically resets my comp) these are the rest of my specs. 1.04 ran perfectly, although I haven't tried playing with different drivers for video card, but i do have latest SB drivers

Athlon 2200+
MSI DDR MOBO
512 megs PC2700 RAM
GeForce 3 Ti200
SB Live Value
Need anything else?
Thanks,
[UVic] Beaster

Extra note for XP users:

When you BSOD, please attempt the following after rebooting:

1. Open Windows Explorer
2. Navigate to c:\windows\minidump (or wherever your windows root directory is)
3. Grab the *newest* .DMP file you find in that directory (all we want is the one from the recent crash, if you happen to have multiples) - it will be named 'mini%todays's date%-0%x%.dmp' (ex: Mini073103-01.dmp).
4. Zip it and attach it to this thread, along with your system specs as specified in the tech FAQ.

Thanks.

Just for another note, if you don't see any .DMP files, or they are large (ie, the size of the amount of system ram in your computer) do the following:

Right-click on My Computer.

Click on Properties.

Click on Advanced.

Click on Startup and Recovery.

Under Write Debugging Information, make sure Small Memory Dump (64 KB) is selected.

Click on OK, then OK again, and reboot if necessary. Windows should start creating the dump files then.

Thanks LB (I figured if they needed to be told where to get minidumps, odds are they had not changed the default settings ).

Extra note: if you are playing NS on XP and suddenly your computer restarts for no apparent reason, it is very likely bluescreening. This is due to 'autoreboot on blue screen' being the default setting...

Update:

Courtesy of Grimfang - latest set of XP Live drivers -

Feel free to give these a try (preferrably after making sure you have a set of current drivers you know work elsewhere than NS).

Without providing any system information of your friend, this doesn't really help us. Thanks though.

These drivers are not the newest drivers, they are from a year ago, but they seemed to fix my problem and they are for Audigy. I don't know if the newest drivers will do the same, but i'm installing newer drivers now, and I will see if they are better or worse than the old ones.

And these drivers fixed the BSOD for me, but my game still crashes now and then. I get an error saying that Halflife Launcher crashed.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon XP 2100+
ECS k7s5a mobo
Daytona GeForce 4 TI4200 (4xAGP, 128MB)
512MB DDR - PC2100
Win XP sp1 pro
Sound Blaster Audigy
