New Domains

<div class="IPBDescription">Do they work for you?</div> There has been a number of new domains out for quite a bit now like .shop .chat .free .mp3 etc, there are quite a few. Now at the moment they don't work on IE6 which i am using, you have to install a patch for it to work. Now a few days ago this patch magically appears on my machine because the domains suddenly worked, but how did it get there?

Also why won't IE allow these new domains, they have been around for a bit so plenty of time for Microshaft to update IE6.

These new domains are so good, hardly any of them have been taken up, like for example www.gamers.chat is available as is www.halflife2.game as well as many other good ones

The patch magically appearing on your machine would most likely be windows update updating itself, i usually keep this disabled. As to why IE won't recognise them without the patch? Hmm, i presume this is probably a change in the way that IE resolves the addresses to IP's, but i'm probably wrong.

i turned off Windows update cuz it had a habit of installing stuff when i didn't want it to.

In any case Windows update normally appear in the Add/Remove Programs list as something like Q3524354: Patch for this, whereas this one had a proper name and an icon to go with it.

I think IE dosen't like them because they prob put in code that said that if you didn't type in a correct domain it would just give an error telling you that you have made a syntax error
