<div class="IPBDescription">Dynamic mouse sensitivity.</div> I have an idea!
It's not specifically an NS idea so keep your cursor away from that lock button mods.
My idea is as follows: (Ahem)
Dynamically adjusting mouse sensitivity according to the range to the surface under the crosshair. The greater the distance to the surface the lower the sensitivity. So when you’re shooting at a faraway enemy you can aim with high precision. But when zipping around to blast a nearer enemy the sensitivity is higher allowing for faster tracking.
Who thinks this is a good idea?
Who knows of such a thing already existing?
Who would be willing to code this?
Who would consider this cheating?

with a sensitivity of 3-6 you cant do anything up close (unless you got a really big desk anyway...)
i play HL (and mods) on 17, and UT on 10. Q3A gets cranked all teh way up.
i cant aim for crap at long range, but up close i can track faster than most (althoguh it hasnt helped me much in NS it's very helpful in Q3 and UT..... very helpful indeed.....)
the idea owns in theory though (as does communism >.<) - i might h4x together some code in my testing mod and see how effective it is in practice...

Just a bit of interest, my friend who plays DOD used to be good with each class, so he had "7 - 9" binded to sensitivities. For instance, he'd have 9 binded to sensitivity 10 for when he was sniping, but 8 binded to... well, 8 for when he was MGing.
CS 10
Quake 3 all the way up
And for sniping with a lerk i have a sens switch bind so i can actually aim precise without going 10 times 360 degrees.

alias dv1 "developer 1"
alias dv0 "developer 0"
alias sensswitch "sens1"
alias sens1 "dv1;sensitivity 16;echo Sensitivity 16;dv0;alias sensswitch sens2"
alias sens2 "dv1;sensitivity 8;echo Sensitivity 8;dv0;alias sensswitch sens1"
bind x sensswitch
<!--c2--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--ec2-->
i have buttons bound... but i never use them ever... (just one for sens 3 and one for sens 17)
i just use 17 .. i can aim well enough at range... it isnt hard..
my mate who is renound for 'cheating' in cs.. he has played competitions on a map called scout_map.. which is pure scout sniping.. he uses sens 2. and he can own anyone.. which i find weird bearing in mind it is ranged shooting...
i'll own his *** <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
you ever tried putting sens 9999 in the console rofl...
ontopic: i would find this very annoying at first, i may get used to it or i may disable it and go back to the normal.
i use 11 sens for most games
With some tweaking though, it might work.
Maybe there could be an option that senses the mouse moving very quickly when the sens is low and automatically increases it. Or a set rate at which the sens can move down so that if you move your reticle over a distant wall in the process of bringing it to bear on a closer target it doesn't slow down too much.

but teh ultimate control would be mind control, well not your controlling your mind, but controlling with your mind @_@...
mind_sensitivity :O
TEH PWN
Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't this the definition of mouse acceleration?
Well slap my a** and call me Charlie.....
I DO suppose it would be pretty cool....even <i>if</i> it has no actual realistic reason for being implemented <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
