Well, that also depends on how you look at it. If someone rushes at the electrified rt 20 times to knock it down ( dying each time), and gets a score of whatever-20, will the score show what he did? Or Just the deaths?
Yes, if you die, the other team gets res, but maybe that means the marines should sit in their base safe and secure, and the aliens should sit in their hive.
Because, really, dying after killing a couple of marines is different than dying after almost destroying the phase gate, and unless there is a very complex system involved, the score wont show that.

It rewards going after players, while going after structures tends to be more important on a strategic level.
About the scoreboard, not sure really. In 1.0 the scores weren't important because they didn't matter in the game. But now, with that res for kills, scores matter (with a random factor added). So it would be useful to analyze how well you're doing, and if your attack strategy helps the enemy more than yourself.
as a comm i give the best/better players on my team the equipment 1st, cos they tend not to run off and die and they have better aim. the more u understand about the game the better your score gets.(as long as u have some skill in the 1st place) on lvls when your tight for res this is very handy. no scorebord is a pain in the arse.

If theyve died a lot they give res to the other team...
If theyve killed a lot, they gain res for their team..
thats @ mr mojo
Score matters, but seeing scores doesnt.

Perhaps an end-game analysis of who built the most what, got the most res, etc. no X KILLS and X DEATHS thing though
