Looking to make a map with someone
I love the NS maps. I mean really love them. I originally became interested in NS because the maps were so lush and beautiful. However as many times as I try I can't ever finish (or start) a map. I'm pretty confident with mapping, and basically, really want to finish an NS map.
But I'd like to work with someone on an NS map. This is how I started my most long going project - with another mapper. We both tweaked a layout and started at opposite ends. It really fuelled me to try and impress him and I enjoyed mapping too. I figured he would do something to impress me and we'd both map each other out. Unfortunately he decided he just wasn't into NS mapping, so I tried to continue but couldn't really. (also, I was about to hit loadas map limits).

So basically I'm looking for some one to work with a map on. I would like someone who's pretty darn competent at mapping and knows what the hell they are doing when it comes to compiling, lighting, lights.rad and info_texlights stuff and so on.
Uhm... seems abit odd to end there but that's it!

I have this same problem, I used to have many unfinished maps, most of which were just one room because I could not get started. When I did get started I could never finish it, I would just run out of energy and the map would die.

I wouldn't mind working as a team to create a map, I think we could motivate each other to do better. I'm not exactly pro though..
I know some about compiling, lighting isn't my greatest strength in mapping, and i have never heard of info_texlights. If you are referring to texture lighting, I know about that, but your probably not

I might not exactly be who you are looking for to team up with, but I am willing to do it

I could help, I allways start on making maps and never get around to finishing them. My current map ns_congo I have not worked on for a few months untill just recently, Working on parts of a map is easy for me. I know everything about mapping and know how to use hammer to accomplish just about any effect I can think of (inside the limits of the HL engine). I am willing to do this with you.

I'd be willing to help. And I'd say I'm quite competent with mapping, exept for the "finishing a map" part and showing it off for criticism. Though I suck at coming up with ideas for things like layouts and 'locations', and combining them (like coming up with and placing rooms that you would expect to find in that location, in the right spot). I've come up with some good locations that I would love to make a map based on, but I need someone else to do the layout (a good and detailed one, I might add). I believe it's mainly this that makes me want to die after building the first room of a map. As long as I know what the room is all about, and why it's there, I'm fine. (Like once, I built a sewer hive that came out great, but after that I thought "Now what?" and it went down the drain along with my mapping spirit, cause I didn't know what to do next.)

Also, I think you should know that I was recently in a mapping project that I now belive is dead. At least our forum is. I built two rooms for the map, and I really love how it came out. However, after that, it all stopped. I'm apparently not good enough with my english to explain it in detail (after a few minutes of thinking ), but I belive it was moslty because of the above mentioned things. And I'm lazy. (Weren't you in this, Some tall guy? Know if it's still going?)

So I will give you the same warning I gave them: All of a sudden, I might just stop. If something is wrong, my lust for mapping might just be flushed away and I will stop mapping for atleast a month. (That's what happend to me in the last project. Layout was horrible, we got a list of rooms to build with no explanation to why they were there and what connections they had to other rooms. Thank the new maps in NS 2.0 for giving me my mapping spirit back.)

Phew, hope you didn't fall asleep from reading all that. Anyways, I think that's all you would need to know about me before deciding anything. It would be dangerous if you didn't. Ask if you want to know anything else. Or want to see pics of my... rooms, rather than maps. And please make me stop this unhealthy use of smileys! ...eek!

i also always start maps and not finish... i just cant seem to do it... well ive started an ns map...
and due to the nature of natural selection maps... i believe it is verry possible to split up the work room by room. becasue all the maps are, are rooms connected by hallways... with the "web like" layout.
think this is the future... and there will be mass produced structures... so i think that a coop map can be done.

this thing can be pasted side by side to make a longer hallway (it still needs some tweaking to make sure ohnos can fit going both directions and i don't konw what to do with the lowe passage)

I'd like to make a map with someone. I've been working on ns_m3rcy for to long; takes way to long to do it alone trying to hold down a job, family, and other things.

Thanks for your offers I'll bear it all in mind, but for now I think I can say that Some tall guy - I'll be getting in contact with you.
Cheers to the lot of you, perhaps some of you guys could join up with each other
