ok then its a problem with the map, or the fgd as i sayed........
  • infiinfi Join Date: 2002-07-07 Member: 891Members
err... wtf? what does the fgd have to do with that?... mhh why doesn't it work ###### it works fine here I mean the fgd is not important since the fgd doesn't change how nstr is working it just changes how your leveleditor is working

Or maybe theres a sprite or sound missing in the zip, that would make it crash...
i dont know...this is what i get in the console when i launch:

omg I hate myself! I put the old corrupt .bsp in the zip instead of the new one ... I didn't get one single download working right from the beginning! <!--emo&:(--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('><!--endemo-->
I now upload it with the right bsp and an updated wad...

that error what you get and crashing hl... I said that earlier in this thread that I had this... then I put a download up with this bsp so you could try... now I fixed it and worked further on my map but as said I still had the old bsp in the zip instead of the new one ... that's why you're getting this error...

The wait was worth it! the sounds and averything really adds to the atmosphere, and the lighting...:0, do u mind if i use some of those textures/sounds in my own map?? of course credits will be due..

Another question infi(if it doesn't bother u too much) what are the light values of the blue light texture?
  • infiinfi Join Date: 2002-07-07 Member: 891Members
sure you can use them... most of the sounds aren't mine though... one is from windows XP most others from system shock 2 and various other games... so if I deserve credit for them only for fixing them up for hl and modifying some of them... the sky is by chalupamonk btw

    the light settings...

    cc_light_blue1 40 60 150 3000
    cc_light_blue2 40 60 150 2800
    cc_light_blue3 40 60 150 2500
    cc_light_red1 190 20 20 2500
    cc_light_red2 190 20 20 2300
    cc_light_red3 190 20 20 500

I had a look round.  On the whole it's pretty good (reminds me of eclipse).

I think you will need more space around the resource node in the marine start.

Please make sure you light the buttons next to your doors (or just add the button texture to you lights.rad).

In the room next to the platfrom, please make the big pipes near the ceiling func_seethough.

if I make the pipes func seethrough I gotta make the supports func seethrough too ... idea 3 is a good one btw <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

OMG ! Great lighting (I love really dark maps .. more scarier that way). And all the sounds are really great aswell I tell ya if I would encounter an alien on this map i would scream outloud and hide under my chair.. really great ..

i love it that way, not too bright so you don't see everything, not too dark so you can see but have doubts on what may be lieing around corners and ceilings, makes it creepy, perfect for ns i think.

Well, it may be my moniter, but in some places all the blue lighting and it not-being-so-dark, I was actually using the welder to see better.I can understand it's for atmosphere, but that is just <b>too</b> much for me.

    my map has a 600km car travel behind <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> I drove to asutria but now I can map on <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

about the darkness... maybe it's my monitor because I'm getting complains about many of my maps that they're too dark but here they're bright enough
