<div class="IPBDescription">Ain't he Cute?</div> <a href='http://www.rucentre.com/lolfighter/Vacuum1.jpg' target='_blank'>Stowed.</a>
<a href='http://www.rucentre.com/lolfighter/Vacuum2.jpg' target='_blank'>Deployed.</a>
<a href='http://www.rucentre.com/lolfighter/Vacuum3.jpg' target='_blank'>And with a matching-colour squid for artistic measure.</a>

So, ain't he cute? Siemens calls the model a "smily" (its more technical-sounding serial is VS01G500), but I think it deserves a unique name. Any thoughts? And ain't he cute? Or perhaps "she"?

    Recently my family decided to replace our 12-year old Dirt Devil. For $26 we went to the nearest Home Depot and got us a Stinger WD2000.
    <img src='http://homedepot.com/HDUS/EN_US/diy_features/images/r_stinger_85.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
    It may look like a tiny wet/dry vac, but it sucks up stuff like you wouldn't believe. I don't remember seeing another vacuum this size with its sucking ability measured in horsepower.

    Nothing can beat the Kirby vaccuum. It makes bad things disappear, like MonsE.

    Hey hey hey, at maximum power, this little sucker (pun intended) has a power usage of 1.5 kW, which equals 2.04 horsepowers! I don't think all of this translates into sucking, but I this baby is one lamer for sure. Get it? Lamer? Sucker? Eh? *nudge nudge*

    No, it makes the dirt spontaneously combust into nothingness.

    ...

    kidding. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Yes, it has a little tray in the back that you dump out. Not hard to do. If you have a lot of crud in your carpet (like long hair), you might also need to clean the brushes.

    Most frequently asked question: what if it misses something???
    Answer: It doesn't, really, because it bounces around the room to the point of redundancy just to make sure it got everything. But on the off chance it DID miss something... well, run it again. Not like it takes that much effort to push the "start" button again, right?

    ... and it costs just <b>how</b> much?
  • p4Samwisep4Samwise Join Date: 2002-12-15 Member: 10831Members
    $200. Mine has already paid for itself in the amount of time it's saved me (especially once you subtract the cost of a standard upright vacuum).

    There's a more advanced model out there, the Trilobite, that actually turns itself on automatically and then runs back to its nest to recharge. I would've gotten that one but it costs about nine times as much, so... yeah.
  • lolfighterlolfighter Snark, Dire Join Date: 2003-04-20 Member: 15693Members
    Mine cost 50€, which is a bit more in dollars. With the mini-flat I'll be living in, cleaning will hardly take any time at all. Still, if I become lazy (or want a new toy), I might look into one of those things. Do they work on smooth floors too, or only on carpet?

    LOl you guys are funny. "The little sucker" lol

    Samwise, your vacume looks like a big cd player.

    At my work place we had one that was made in the UK.. IT has no sucking power at all. It has a little face painted on it and its called "Henry".

    Oh yeah? ...I have one of those little vaccuums with the beeping antenna that has a dustpan and a broom, and it tells you to lift your legs twice when it only wants you to do it once! And "Powerhouse" plays whenever I turn it on.

    A thread about vacuum cleaners, I must say those robot ones are wicked cool. I don't care what it does but trilobite is a good name for anything.
