I have a P3 450MHz with a TNT2 Ultra. I get from 5 to 50 fps. (most often between 10 and 30), but it doesn't really matter if I use 640x480 or 1024x768, that only changes a few fps, even though it more than doubles the fillrate requirement.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I concur. My system is also a P3-450. It originally had a Riva TNT and 128MB of RAM.
Upgrading to 256MB of RAM helped a bit, but only really seemed to help loading times significantly. Upgrading to a GeForce3 had negligable impact. My FPS is around the same as yours.
Basically I've concluded that there's nothing I can do apart from replace the motherboard. I've ordered an Abit IC7-G, P4-2.8 800FSB and dual 256MB DDR400 modules. If <i>that</i> doesn't get the FPS up to something sensible, I don't know what will.
I went from being 60fps in extremly empty and small rooms in v1.04 to 60fps in alien hive rooms in v2.0. And from ~20fps in marine base to ~30fps in marine base.... So, no proformance drop here....
radeon 9500->9700 softmod, p4 2.4b, 512mb pc2700 ram. I have the same frame rate drop as other people have experienced... went from 99 rock solid (maybe ~70 when around a huge tfarm, like 12+ turrets), down to 60-80 average. I'm not sure whether this is just weird driver issues, or what, but it's kind of annoying D:
