Ps problem

<div class="IPBDescription">Gosh dang diggity and no mistake</div>Nuts.

I've been happily in-game particle system editing for a while and suddenly it stops working.  I type "editps [whatever]" and it says the normal "Found PS, press F4 to edit" so I do this, and then i get the message "PS not found". Dang.  So I check that it's there using "listps" and, yes, it is there.

So, can anyone help me with this problem?  This is beginning to really get on my nerves so help would be great.

Make a simple box map with your PS in it, run it, edit it in there, write down the settings, go back to your real map, and set it up.

You're not the only person who's had this problem recently. It's rather strange that suddenly people are having problems.

Has anything changed recently? (Not the HL patch cos my NSTR works fine.)

the only thing i've done recently, is upgrade half life, since i did that i havnt been able to edit ingame

No, I think the right word is wrong.  You had a problem where you would type 'editps psname' in the console, have it say it found the ps, hit F4, and it would tell you that the ps can't be found.  That is all the information you provided to help people diagnose your problem.  <span style='color:red'>Based on what you said, the most common cause for your problem would be because you are not on a team.</span>  Don't ask for help and complain when you don't understand it, don't think it pertains to your problem, are already doing what the person suggested but didn't say that you're already doing it, or it doesn't work.  No one is required to help you, and acting so horribly ungrateful makes people less willing to help you in the future.

Now, back to the real problem here.  There are only a few things that you can do.  Try editing it not on a team, as an alien, and as a marine.  Try without an info_gameplay entity.  Try removing the info_gameplay entity <i>and</i> all the info_team_spawns, and then try and edit the ps.  Or make a fresh new map, like PB suggested (and I know it didn't work for you, Insane, but it might work for others), and edit the ps in there.  Make a fresh new map, and stick in an info_team spawn and join a team in there.

If none of those work, you'll either have to wait for release, or make a lot of guesses.

*Sorry if you already know this* In NSTR some parts of the particle systems are not complete.  I remembered I started changning around some stuff like the Shape of the PS and I wondered why it didnt work in game.  Greedo then told me that there are some parts of the PS that are not fully supported, so if you changed the ps entity all around this could be your problem.

i dont have an info_gameplay in yet, could that be a problem?

Could be.  Only way to find out is to stick one in and see if it changes anything.
