Slow Mouse Response

Firstly, here are my specs:
- 2.4 Ghz P4
- 512 DDR RAM
- Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB
- Sound Blaster PCI (cheapo)
- Windows XP (Home Edition)
- Cable Connection
- Microsoft Optical Mouse

Whenever I am not running Windows 98/ME compatability mode with NS I get massive problems with control responce. Usually the mouse takes 1-2 seconds to cause the crosshair on screen to move. Now, I would be happy with compatability mode except for the fact that my sound gets MASSIVELY distorted while in that mode. Any ideas?

Is this only in NS, and not other HL mods? If so, uninstall and reinstall NS. If not, let me know and we can continue <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> .

Only in NS. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. However, I noticed it only screwed up the backround sounds (the water dripping, etc) in the maps. Could that mean something?

Hrm, are you sure it isn't just your sensitivity that's just real low? (Open your console with the ~ key in game and type sensitivity to discover the current setting) my advice would be setting that to 6 by typing in sensitivity 6, and if NS is still messed up after you reinstalled twice then it might be the actual dl. Good luck.

I have this exact same problem with NS 2.0 except im running windows xp pro.

    amd xp 2000+
    512 mb memory
    g4 ti 4400
    sound blaster live
    logiteh dual optical usb mouse
    usb office keyboard
    cable modem

Changing sensitivy doesnt affect response rate, nor do i get this problem in any other game.

Looking at the "mouse smoothness" post it is slightly different problem, for me this is a HUGE problem i can barely control myself in NS and it is unplayable at the moment.

Nothing worse then getting excited about ns 2.0, downloading it and playing it and having a bug that makes it so you can barely control yourself lol.

    Nope, doesn't affect it.

***EDIT: Redownloaded, seemed to fix the problem, thanks for the help***
