Any kind
Since the other book topic is just asking for sci fi books for him, this topic could be about the books you're reading and/or recommendations. I'll start

Check out everything by Douglas Adams.
The Discworld books by Terry Pratchett
All Vonnegut books

I recommend Franz Kafka's stories, although they're pretty inane.

I'd say Laidlaw by William McIllvanney. Good Scottish detective story.

That's like, everything I've ever read and loved, right there. You forgot, though:

    Catch-22
Foundation and the rest of those books
    Dune, and the rest
    A Tale of Two Cities

Anything by king, although his older works are better, it's all good. Salem's Lot in particualr is just amazingly good.

Bradbury is amazing as well. The Illustrated Man contains the only short story to ever have made me cry.

A much less famous, but equally good to read, book is Snow In August by Pete Hammil.

Also anything by Phillip K ****.

    That is all.

im not one for books generally (somthing that ties into my general preferance for numbers over words)
but rouge states by a mr.Chomsky is incredably well researched, and seems to be an appropriate read right about now... shame its making me overly paranoid *shifty eyes* o_0---*

I read Pet Sematary, that was pretty good. I was planning on renting the movie, but I never got around to it.

Are his books as well put together as his articles and essays?

im guessing more so, the cool thing about his books is the (appendix?), ALL references to reports/ statements/ policies are listed, so you basically get a list of his research material, which is beyond impressive in the case of rouge states at least.

I'm presently reading The Divine Comedy. After getting through most of Inferno, my thought is "if Dante were a game developer, what sort of game would he have made this...?"
