Going paintball on the third with some of my mates.

Who here does paintball as a sport or hobby?

Who here likes paintball and goes every now and then?

Where do you go?

Me and my mates are going to www.campaign-paintball.com - They shot the KitKat advert / X-Fire / and mission paintball there. Its the only place i have been to.. I go there once a year.

I've never been to a paint-ball party... But others tell me it's great fun and I believe them.

Gotta get my **** up and do it sometime.

First tip: Never travel alone if possible.

    Second tip:
A lot of paintballers suffer from what I call "Fear of getting hit".

If you are facing a novice player, fire a few shots at them to get them to duck their head.
Now, while either you or your partner continues to fire a few shots to keep them
    ducking behind cover, rush them.
You will be at a point blank range in an instant and they will most likely still be cowering
    behind their cover.

Warning: Don't try this against a veteran player unless you have a buddy to cover you.

edit: If you can, hold the enemy player down while your partner moves to form at least a 90 (but no more than 120)
degree angle with you and the enemy as the pivot point Anything more than 120 is a waste of time (unless the enemy is in a bunker). This leaves them unable to target one of you without taking his eyes of the other. It also leaves him with little to no cover.

    Enemy----------Partner
    *cover*

That having been said, never let yourself get pinned down like this.

i used to play with my work team ( used to be a paintball marshall)

Delta force paintball in Kent UK

yeah paintball is great fun but i gave it up for airsoft...

but yeah i used to run in tourny ball we had the best speedball arena... i knew wherea ll the tree roots were lol i i wouldnt make an arse of myself...

best game ever was when at the end of a long sunday shift most players had packed up 4 marhsalls left
around 14 players... they all had at least 50 rounds left so instead of the usual (just fire em off at the target range area) we had a game us 4 vs them.. we realised how easy it was to take on effective 'newbies' we had 2 back players and they just volly while the otehrs move up and gain ground..

my BESt hint to you.. Always look around! it is hard to explain but if your hit from a paintball and you see it coming.. then it doesnt seem to hurt hafl as much and you still have a chance to shoot the bugger back! if however you dont see it then it really canes lol

I've never tried paintball but I have always wanted to. I usually go to some venues and play laser games. It's pretty much the same idea except you are indoors, its foggy, its dark and......lemme think......and there are lasers instead of paintballs. It's basically one huge room made into small corridors, bunkers and turrets with large metal sheets, it can be arranged to make a new arena. It's good stuff but I usually end up knocking the battery out because I run about too quickly

Right, ive played a few tourneys, got a nice souped up Pro/Carbine. My two biggest pieces of advice, dont be afraid of getting hit, it's like getting a marble thrown at you, nothing more. Number two is keep your cool. Most of the time the other team will be freaking out, if you stay calm i garuntee you will wipe the floor with em.

My paintballing friends and I usually go up to a state game area to play. We found this great spot with burms on either side of a small valley that has thick woods and bushes, better then any range

Getting hit is nothing when you are wearing your 2 layers of clothing...all my friends always **** about getting welts, when all they wear is 1 layer of thick cotton, meanwhile I have never gotten a welt, even when getting shot 3" from the balls at 10 ft by a flatline. Yay clothing!

My favorite guns are Tippmans, esp the 98, it's cheap, works great, and it feels nice. The hardcore player among us recently got an Tipp A5 with a flatline barrel, so he's shooting us straight from as far as we could possibly arc our paint. Damn flatline.

While hunting at one point was an honorable field that would have been greater than paintball and airsoft had they existed it has now become quite pathetic for the most part. Now there still exists that rare breed of hunter, who go out on foot before dawn. Using stealth tracking techniques. But, most hunters just shell out however much money, have an outfitter take them to find the animal they wish to hang on their wall and then shoot the first one they see. Yep it's really quite sad that we entertain ourselves by killing creatures who were just getting along fine. To prove we are manly men.

    Eh sorry...just bugs me

But I'll actually discuss the topic now.

Paintball is all kinds of fun! I used to play every weekend with my friends in my Jr. High days. I had a Tipman Model 98 with the curved barrel for extra range. We'd go play about a half hour outside of the city at an outdoor field that had all sorts of totaled vehicals giving it this semi urban feel. It doesn't hurt that bad, so don't spend your time hiding and worrying about cover . You know to fire small bursts I guess (I like 3 shots at a time). Play to win, shoot the slow fat kids.

(I was that kid for a good portion of my life, being shot all the time is motivation to get healthy. So noone gripe at me for advising him to pick on the gorges of the group.)

I'm sure what I'm saying is really obvious but you know, I just felt like typing. I guess I'm just saying play to win. Don't use your OGC!

The best part about paintball is the pain. That's what makes it exciting. Your body knows that it hurts and doesn't want to get hit. That's why its so much better than lazer tag.

i did have an inferno... but now cos i quit and i only play rec ball i got a Tippy 98 custom with all the trimmings

and what he says is true... most of the players freak out that is another reason to not trust anyone lol when you play with a team you can trust them.. but when your playing with random people if you shout 'cover me' you wont get it lol

about Airsoft vs paintball i have played and loved both....

there is a place called www.ukairsoft.net which is where most of the UK airsofters hang out.. andthough tbh some of the admins are how you say a bit ************************************

i have seen more paintball threads shot down by airsofters also.. but the reason being airsoft has alot of online interaction.. with booking places buying weapons etc.. it is more online involved therefore more softers i think...

    I don't play lasertag anymore.
I often run into what I would parallel to the NS world as "ragers"
These are the types of people who take a slow paced and friendly game
and either behave poorly or behave downright dangerously for no apparent reason.

    Now,
Take one serious player who used to play paintball competitively. Throw in a dash of military experience and a few years as a security guard. Combine in a dark room with narrow corridors and tight environs.

Now throw in a few smack talking college freshmen as opponents who just rammed one of your teammates (a lady friend of mine) into the floor intentionally and *accidentally* knocking my head with their lasergun (several times). Nothing bothers me more than someone taking a fun competitive game and turning it into a dangerous situation.

So my team: Myself, a SEAL, and two Airforce SPs decided to play for real.

Being good sports. We were sure to help them to their homes or the infirmary after the game.

edit: For clarification. Not that we were in anyway violent. We simply increased our pace. The other team could not keep up and were thoroughly trounced. The only injury occured when they tried to match our pace and ended up twisting ankles or turning corneres and running into walls.

I'm ok but im not really good. I guess I would be classified as a level right above complete nub that shoots his own teammates or just hides behind a wall all day.

I usually play at this one place where there are like a couple guys that play comeptivaly and then a couple dumbasses that shoot me in the back that are on my own team. If I could find some people that were equally sucky then it would be cool.
  • kidakida Join Date: 2003-02-20 Member: 13778Members
I put that war>hunting>paintball/airsoft as an example of "realisim." In war, people die and the bullets actually penetrate, whereas in paintball its played as a sport and the bullets don't penetrate. In hunting it is the same concept, bullets penetrate, but you are not fighting against someone. Hunting is a means of testing one's survival capability, at least to what I think.

So it is kind of like a as-real-as-it gets pyramid.
