Strategy When Playing 3 Vs 3...

It seems that aliens has a huge advantage when the number af players is small like 3m vs 3a or 3m vs 2a. I've been playing with some guys lately on ns_tanith and the score is 12 games won by aliens and 2 by marines. You might say 'Bad com' and it probably has some thing to do with it, but there has to be other things too. Like it's not easy to defend the base, secure a hive or two and scout for res nodes with 2 marines an a com.

Does anyone have any thorghts on small game strategy? Is ns_tanith just a map in alien favor?

    The only viable tactic to me in that scenario is to do a real tech-rush.

    1 IP
    1 armory
    1 arms lab
    1 proto

    Recycle as much of it as you can and research JP's. Possibly HMG's as well. Drop JP's (HMG if you can) for everyone (including the COM). Stock up on ammo. You get one attempt to kill the hive.

    The game isn't designed for these kind of numbers.

    for small games like that marines kind of get shafted. Because of the way marine resources work and the low mobility of marines, res towers are near impossible to defend when they are away from base. That being said, your best bet would be a relocation. Places that come to mind are cargo/fusion and reactor room. once you have successfully secured those two res nozzles have your marines do nothing but guard the base and do some HARD teching to jetpacks. only get weapons or armor upgrades if you find yourself with excess res... which you won't.
