Subject: Dimensional warp Generator Needed ygfkmsiyk  b
Sent: Sunday, July 27, 2003 9:06 AM +0000

Hello,

I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going to need  a new DWG unit,  prefereably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display.

I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received certification  for being safe on carbon based life forms.

In terms of payment:
I dont have any Galactic Credits left. Payment can be made in platinum gold or 2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit. Please transport unit in either a brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Sunday July 27th at (exactly 3:00pm) Eastern Stand Time. If you miss this timeframe please email me.

42.4845467 & Longitude -71.1576157 and the ground is 101.3' above sea level.

Although those coordinates are a secure guarded area, these channels through email are never secure. Unfortunately it is the only form of communication I have right now. There is a good chance that sombody will try to redirect the signal. The unit must be teleported directly in a way
that nobody will be able to interfere with the transference.

After unit has been sent please email me at: info@federalfundingprogram.com
with payment instructions. Do not reply directly back to this email.

Thank You

here's another satelite view of the location. Does anyone know a way to check if that elevation actually exists around that area of ground?

I think someone just felt like sending out a weird e-mail and seeing if they'd get a response...

    On second thought, that's a fun idea. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Yes. Very well, then. I'll just leave now... unnoticed.

    hours later...

He thinks the e-mail is a joke, oh royal slaughterer of humans. No, no, I didn't--DUDE! SHUT UP!! HEY!! WTH, CAMERAS!!

Well, I've gone through it with basic cryptography knowledge, and it looks more like someone was just dancing on the keys than a standard replacement cypher. That or it's not in english. Or uses a sequential key. Or uses a shifted grid (unlikely).

    Reasons:
<li>No single letter occurs drastically more often than any other. E usually stands out like a sore thumb, unless it's carefully worded or is encoded lacking that letter.
<li>English has five vowels (six if you want to be picky) and there are an incredibly small number of words that exist without one at most every three consonants. (excepting th-) Again, see how no letters stick out in a frequency breakdown.
<li>The two single-characters (g and u) can be assumed, with proper spelling, to likely be A and/or I. They do appear 4 and 3 times respectively, but 10 letters appear that often so it is nowhere near above normal. Moron-spelling could set them at 'y', 'b' or 'u' though.
<li>The last line can be assumed to be a salutation. The only one that seems to fit is 'bye', due to the length and difference between the letters. However, 'p' only occurs once, making it an unlikely candidate for 'e'.
<li>It utilizes every letter in the English language at least once, except for F. Using 25 letters is not impossible, but is not average.

oooor... assuming its not just gobbledygook like you said innitially, the person could have one of those coding machines the Germans had in WW][... It produced a code that was impossible to break until the allies captured one of their own...

The gobbledeegook letters are part of standard bulkmailing programs tracking protocols. They help the sender find out how far his email has reached around the globe.

    edit - Updated

Jesus this guy is for real, the guy who sent this email out originally truly believes he is a time traveller trapped in our time. He has spent the last few years dolling out cash for newspaper adverts and bulk email companies to spread the word. Read about it <a href='http://www.lindqvist.com/xpo/index.php?ID=912' target='_blank'>here</a>

The enigma code could be cracked in seconds flat by modern technology, without needing to build a specialised device based on an actual enigma device <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->. There's nothing especially fantastic about the enigma code, it was merely very good for its time.
