Windows xp problem

<div class="IPBDescription">Folders opening new windows</div>Whenever I open a folder it opens a new window.  Now ordinarily you would set this in Tools -> Folder options and set it to open in the same window.  Well that's what my system is set to and it keeps creating windows.

Help me please, this is well annoying.

Hit the restore defaults button to flush out all the settings, then make your preference chages again in 'general' and 'view'. Then apply to 'all folders'.

That's a bit drastic unless it's already a fresh install.

XP came with the computer so i've only got this crumby 'repair disk'.

go to the store and demand the full XP cd. you paid for it, they should give it to you. if not, its prolly a warezed copy they gave you (yes, that happens a lot, especially from a small store), in which case you should call microsoft for a little revenge.

Never buy a computer w/o the original disks.

Everybody, stop handing out such ridiculous advice. Formatting is not the answer to your OS problems except in the most drastic circumstances.

Make sure you try forcing the OS to open all apps in a their own window like the first pic (and hit apply), then force it to open all in the same window (like the 2nd pic) and hit apply.
