<div class="IPBDescription">Anyone into power?</div> Anyone know of 24v DC electric motors that give at least 20Nm of torque in the 800-2000W range. I was looking at electrically powered bike motors, but those are generally too weak. Need high-effiency, phase doesn't matter.
Also looking for shunt-resistors that don't cost an arm and a leg.

IN any case, I'm glad you came to ns.org's off-topic, the largest uncertified, uneducated body of elctric motor specialists on theweb!
well im studying Electrical engineering.. (2nd year)
and i gotta ask.. what on earth are you planning to do with this?
Our car is 90 lbs lighter then the nearest competitor, weighing in at about 160 lbs w/o ballast. Our motor is stock, and the same model as the team that always wins, however the thing seems far overpowered for the application. Key differences would be the speed controller (upgrading ths year if we get enough money), gearing (which we intend to replicate this coming year), and areodynamics of the shell. Our shell is not exactly high-quality, but it's light as hell. We made the skeleton of aluminum bar and used Tyvek for the covering, so all in all it's like 5 lbs.
Picture follows... Hope you like our numbers, it's kind of hard to print on a sheet of Tyvek... The guy in there isn't me, but this year it will be <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
So's your...ummm....mom.
edit: <a href='http://www.brusa.li/products/e_ah_zaehler117.htm' target='_blank'>Any of these</a> would also be nice.
Uncertified and uneducated? The Electronics Engineering degree on my wall proves how untrue that statement is. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar with electric motors of that size/power. My specialization is board-level electronics. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
