Turret/OC tracking is tougher and more deadly now, but not godlike botted...
I too agree with all of the points made originally. It's a shame he didn't have more time to work on it (as the map flyby's were super-uber and proves there was potential).
The trailer for 1.0 really set a standard too, I guess.
But no time or not... spinny window thing... yeah... that was a waste of time. lol

I thought I would get better results if I just asked here rather than PM regis, but I was wondering what was the name of the techno mix in the beggining. And if there was some way I can download it legally, or if you could DCC it to me on IRC, or.. ...

Anyhow, could someone explain me what the spinny window thang was supposed to be about? /me is confused.
Hmm, i have to agree with a lot of Infinitum's post. Why The HELL was that window there, BAD WINDOW! BACK IN YOUR CAGE!
Target audience ... Anyway, whereas the footage was cool and it was nice to see a preview of the game. But that's the problem, this isn't so much a trailer for the existing community, this is supposed to be a trailer for those outside of NS. This trailer is supposed to be a pretty hefty tool at enticing new players who've not seen NS before into the game. I think it fails to achieve this, in comparison to the 1.0 trailer at least.
I know time was an issue here, and fair play to Regis, he tried and achieved something that was perfect for all us information hungry-fans, but the time issue should have been taken into account. Rushing something like this could have serious issues as to the attention NS recieves from the rest of the public.
Perspective ... Try and imagine yourself as a non-NS fan. You see a trailer with a random spinning window, unprofessional graphics (Sorry, i am a massive graphics critic.) and no real infomation. You're going to be slightly intrigued, but this trailer may be the only thing that sways you for or against the game. It gives no information as to the new features, as Infinitum said, but it also had no information as to the existing 1.04 features. I state again, this isn't just to attract existing fans or previous fans to the game, this is to attract people that know nothing of the game.
Gameplay preview ... As it stands the video is more of a gameplay preview than a trailer. This has, i'm afraid, minimal effect on a non-NS player.
Also. The length. This is over 3 minutes long and a lot more could have been said in 1 minute. I feel a trailer's not quite so much about "how much cool stuff can you fit in there" but more about teasing the viewer; Enticing them with mystery.
My conclusion ... To be blunt, i think there needs to be a new NS trailer. As i've stated many times over, this is absolutely perfect for existing fans, it's keeping us well fed in the PR department, but that's it, this trailer doesn't need to be aimed at us, it needs to be aimed at the NSPlayer that knows nothing about the game. We know about the revolutionary commander mode, but do they? We know of all the alien evolutions, but do they? The target audience was way off.
I think a better idea would have been to give them less but present it in a more stylish way with more information as to the game's existing and new features. By the way, i love the still res node, it looks very cool, since the maps are empty in that footage it gives a real impression of peacefulness and serenity.
Regis, if you read this, you did great work given such a short time, and as Infinitum says, 99% of people are quite happy, it's just us 1% that feel the need to cause a stir.
Maybe this should have been a PM but I agree fully with everything Infintum said. The techno stuff was awesome in particular and I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the style change confusingly.
I think that the trailer Ro><oRd, could it have been better.. For sure. I think too much was left out. The original Trailer made you very egar to want to find out what killed that marine, the style looked awesome and the selling point was dead on. This trailer seems kinda rushed. Over all I loved it and found my self getting goose bumps watching it. But I think it could have been a bit longer, had a scrolling list of all the new features at some point taken fron NeoMatrix99's list. But Over all It did the job! and 3 days have never felt so long off!
Hah, I d/l the trailer for the gamefotage, the rest I skipped.... Yeah and by the way if you give out more details it's good to do like this: *Text* "New HLTV support" *Game Fotage of HLTV in action*
One last thing, as I failed to do it properly in previous posts:
I love this trailer. So does Flay. We think Regis did a great job, and that's why we hired him. People can complain and second guess and do the monday morning quarterback thing, but like making mods, when it comes down to it, it's just them talking versus Regis doing.
Regis - you did a great job and brought many thousands of new players to NS with this work. We love ya buddy. Good luck on the Pre/Selection movie; from what secret stuff I've seen, it's going to blow away the entire online gaming community, much less the world of HL mods.
