<div class="IPBDescription">What if they dont?</div> Hey, just wanted to know if the old custom maps will work with 2.0, because i was just about to download a huge map-pack from brys world's site and i thought, "what good is 97mb of custom maps if they may not work under 2.0?" <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Well... We already know that ns_nancy will not run under 2.0 because of Onos hull clipping problems. It's safe to assume that one or more of the custom maps will suffer from the same issues, and need to be re-worked by the map author before they will be good for use in 2.0.

    However, some if not most of the maps will still work under 2.0, so you should probably go for it.

    And give me a link to that map pack. Because that sounds pretty good. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Some old maps like siege and missilecommand might have to be redesigned due to the new jetpack changes....

    You can run the maps, but as the aformentioned problem with Nancy, problems may arise.

    And personally, I'm gonna delete all the "fun" maps from my hard drive. With a stick. From the back of a bus. And then burn the remains. And then pee on the ashes. And then irradiate the urine.

    But to each his own! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Many maps will have to be redone. Like missilecommand, which will need the height lowered. But, hey, you know, *shruggles*. Why does anyone want to play a custom map with 2.0! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Same reason they would want to play a costum map in NS 1.0x

    But still, since the maps are new it will take a while before we get tired of them so
    we can wait for costum maps ^^

    It's not like you would have to totally remake every map, the mapper would just have to compile under the new hull file...right?

    Bah, I'm more of a "serious" custom map lover. I don't care much at all for "fun maps" but maps like Karnak, Greian, Atomicmass, those kind of maps just kick ****.

    If you look at siege, why on earth would it have problems? The place is much too open for an onos to get stuck on something, and since jetpacks have been (slightly) nerfed, the only kind of new map issues 2.0 would bring up is if you didn't have enough fuel to make it across/up a gap.

    Missilecommand would obviously be even less fun if marines couldn't even make it to the top, but making them do it in two stages might actually give the kharaa a chance to get that second hive up. I might be willing to play it more than 2-3 times if it at least pretended to be balanced.

    If I understand it, marines can't even make it to the top in 2.0, with 2 hops... I never had the benefit of major FPS gains, and I still took 2 hops. I imagine that jetpacks have silghtly less thrust then even that, so... it probably needs to have some serious shrunkage slapped on.

    Some have simple fixes, some would be a pain in the arse.
