Don't use a mousebutton or anything like that, use a-z or 1-0 to be guaranteed that your mic will work when you command.

    what he said <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

in 1.0x your mic won't work if it's bound to a mouse key, it's a bug.

    In 5 days we'll have NS 2.0 which shouldn't have this problem anymore <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I've still got this problem with 2.0, is it still just a bug?

    I have this on 2.0

Not sure it can be called a "bug"

This is a "bug" in Half-life. HL doesn't execute commands bound to mouse buttons while the mouse cursor is visible. I've tried to fix this and I don't think I can, so you should rebind to a keyboard key as a work-around.

From what i can tell, you cant bind the voice comms button to the following in 2.0, and use it while being commander:

    ANY mouse button
the keys: qwerasdfzxcv , as they are set for the commander shortcuts as default (if you changed them, then you cant use whatever you changed them to)

As i mentioned above...i took of those keys...and still i had the conflict...

Are there any creators/programmers here to answer this?

have you tried binding it to to every letter key?

have a go, and find one that works.

have you ever been gagged by an admin for spamming voice? I just realised that could be why voice aint working

He said his voice was working in first person mode, so I doubt he's been gagged.

I had the same problem and changed my bind to capslock. That works for me.

    bind "CAPSLOCK" "+voicerecord"

try using left alt, it's in a nice little position near ur thumb. but the prob is that if u check the stats screen a lot (default: tab) then u might minimize your game a lot, but that's what i use <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (and right click in FPS mode)

alternately guys, how do you switch your +voicerecord key between first person and comm modes? I've had it bound to Q since ingame comms first came out and not really hot on switching it. Thus I'd like to keep it on Q when i'm first person mode but switch to maybe capslock when i hop in the comm chair.

bind capslock +voicerecord (I don't know the actual name of capslock for bind purposes, but you can find out by binding a key via the gui and then looking in your config.cfg)

if you want a script to do this so you don't have to pull down the conn here it is:

make a file called voicecomm.cfg in you ns dir, put this in it:
    alias comm "bind capslock +voicerecord"
    alias fps "bind q +voicerecord"
    bind c comm
bind v fps //NOTE: change c and v to your prefered keys
//for a cycling bind simply ignore the last 4 lines and use these 3 instead:
alias comm "bind capslock +voicerecord; bind x fps"
alias fps "bind q +voicerecord; bind x comm"
bind x comm //NOTE: x is the key that will toggel between the 2 so set all instances of x to your prefered key <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

with that file made save it and then open up config.cfg and add into it (on its own line):
    exec voicecomm.cfg

Yep, was looking for a script and not very good with them myself, especially for NS. Cheers Thansal <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

a simple way to use two different keys is to just simply bind it twice:

    bind "q" "+voicerecord"
    bind "capslock" "+voicerecord"

This is probably just me being stupid but..

..for some reason, NS doesn't let me communicate using voice.
I run the voice-setup program, and that works fine, I can hear myself in my headphones fine.
I can hear everybody else's voice when I'm playing NS, as well as all the other sound effects.
I've tried changing the Voice Communication key from in the game to B, ALT, and a few others, yet whenever I get in a game, I don't have a little speaker icon by my name.
I've checked in the config options in Multiplayer and the "Use Voice Comms" is checked. Should it be off, maybe?

It's probably just some stupid little config item somewhere, but I'll be darned if I know where. Any ideas? I'm going to try going into a game and then disabling the voice-comms and re-enabling it to see if that fixes things. I'll let you know.

Hmm.. no dice. Oddly, though, whenever I unchecked "Use voice comms" and went into the game, I'd come back out and it'd be checked again.
