WIn media player 9 is simply retarded

Microsoft while trying to get people to cut back on illegal file sharing crap put lots of restrictions on what codecs and formats WMP will play.

U can t un update the thing or uninstall it either.


Now every time I want to see a movie I MADE like from a ideo camera or someone elsees game movie, or 1/2 the game movie trailers, or anoy other legal video clip chances are win media player cant run it. All you will get is < cannot find viedo codec, trying to download from codec site, then it wont get it. I have to use a whole slew of progams so I can see them.


I have BS Player, Divx, Elecard Mpeg 2 etc.

I used to be able to watch all these cool random LEGITIMET vid clips with windows media player, then I got 9 and i was screwed.

go to google and search for MPLAYERC.EXE . It plays a whole slew of formats, it's based off of Win Media Player 6.0 but uses brand new codecs.

It plays:

.avi
.mov
.wmv


I don't know what else it plays.

My cousin D/Led it and now I love it. Very good controls too, loads quicker then QuickTime and uses the same codecs.

I use winamp to view most (if not all) of my media files. However, you'll still have to upgrade your Windows media player in order to get the latest version of the codec. I couldn't view any of the ns2.0 videos in WMP or winamp until I upgraded.
