Do Not Relocate Here

My new comm strategy is to try and relocate to spots on a map where I can never remember people relocating before. Try new stuff, y'know? I'm a good enough comm that I can win by doing this. But as I relocated to South Loop the other day... I realised that you can't upgrade stuff in there. So to any comm's that might wanna try that... don't. Otherwise it's a great relocation, one of my marines even commented we would have won if we could have upgraded. But yeah... just don't relocate there.

yes NEVER relocate there, i also know from experince, you may think that its a cut off from maint to cc, but you will get crushed

You can still upgrade stuff... just as long as you build EVERYTHING on the raised part with the res node

It's not a bad idea... it's probably a better idea to have a few spots in mind and rotate them. Some places are utterly pointless to relocate to, and some are insanely good. It doesn't make a lot of sense to move somewhere that doesn't have a res nod, for example.

One brilliant, and seldom used spot, is under the quad lift on ns_nothing. We had SO much trouble finding the marines... we ended up beating them because they couldn't get to enough of the map\tech up fast enough. You pay the price for a brilliant location by losing out on res.

My favourite spot to relocate on ns_bast is the little inset into the wall with the computer consoles between Atmospheric and Feedwater... highly covered, they can't attack you from a distance when fades come along, you're neer atmos, feed and tram maintenance... 4 res points.

I feel exactly the same way about weird relocations... I lay awake at night before I go to bed trying to rack my brain for an as yet un used relocation point that might work well.

Its always those kind of relocations that are good. Dont relocate inside a hive, relocate next to it. For example, on ns_nothing, dont go right in cargo, relocate to generator instead. If the marines can control the generator elevator, the quad lift elevators and the cargo vent, they control the entire upper portion of the map. That equals 7 resource nodes. Also, on ns_caged, dont relocate inside of sewer hive, relocate right outside by the pumping node. You now have a node, control the hive and have quick access to ventilation via the weldable.

I guess some people are just tactically challenged.

Yeh, generator is my favourite spot on ns_nothing to relocate to you... as a commander you can keep the elevator up and that way everyone knows quite audibly if someone is coming from that way, cause they HAVE to put the elevator down... and then you only really have one exposed entrance, which is right next to cargo, miasma, and down the elevator you can get to cargo vent res and ominous... gen is a kickass place to relocate, yet funnily enough whenever I do it, people go "WTH? what sort of relocation is this? why didn't we go to cargo? n00b!".

Damn I get so sick of the same old ****...

In response to the original topic... Keyhole is the next best thing to South Loop...

Common relocate places I see on my server

    Keyhole(Eclipse)
    Chemical Transport room(Tanith)
    Generator Room/Miasma Walkway(Nothing)
Umm..crap forgot the name, its on Bast past the rotating door.
    Cargo Storage(Nancy)
    Freight Elevator(Caged)
    Hera Reception(hera)

Those usually make for interesting games, as marines have easy access to a lotta nodes or 2 hives.

Keyhole on ns_eclipse combined with an RT capture and recycle strategy.

The best place i have seen for a relocation is Hera Entrance and Reception when it is all boarded up except for the elevator. This is done by having 4 people stand under the doors after being welded open or shut, pressing the button next to it therefore closing the door unto the marines. If all 4 marines stay underneath the door it will jam and for some reason close the vents allowing the doors AND vents to be shut (as soon as the marines jump out from under the door that is). This works both ways so that if its opened the Door AND vent will be open. I find this is THE best opportunity to turret farm etc, making it very hard for the aleins to get in. On one server where I tried this out, my team of MArines held out for quite a while, that is to say before we where over run by onos who opened the doors and let all the other aleins in. but a good place to board up nonetheless.

    I can confirm that.

I like to relocate to eclipse because I know where to build without getting the bugs and it suprises everyone. Relocating to some random place on the map is lots of fun too.

I like Relocating to multiple locations at once, it confuses the aliens, helps guard two locations, and is worth it for the occasional "WTH, COMM, OUR BASE MOVED!"

I did that in bast once, to both engine and refinery, an armory in each and linked them with phases. We would have won but the server had turned on a mod that let aliens give res to gorges. This meant that after we had both bases established we ventured out to find the entire map turned into a giant pile of OC's/ We held them back for at least 45 minutes with GLs and siege crawling until the gorge got above our refinery base and droped 8 OC's next to out buildings, which the siege couldnt quite kill fast enough with skulks supporthing the gorgy.

Yeah, I relocated to power sub junction once on ns_eclipse. We lost, but it was pretty fun...
