<div class="IPBDescription">I have absolutely no self-discipline</div> I have no self-discipline whatsoever, i get distracted so easily, even when I try to focus on one thing I can't concentrate, and I'm not motivated to do anything, even if I find it interesting =/ Except for short term entertainment, like games

Anybody just have any tips for self-motivation, or self-discipline, etc? Thanks

    A cattle prod, a reward system, stuff like that.

    Seeing a doctor could help if its really annoying you.

    But I like the cattle prod idea <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    haha i dont mean like "keeping your fingers is motivation enough"

    i mean just like, for little things

    "i KNOW i need to do this major science assignment due by next week, i know i should be doing it now, but i keep getting distracted"

    and stuff like "i want to read up on C, delphi, etc etc, but i just cant bring myself to google some tuts and stuff like that, and read them" instead of bumming around on the internet <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    any special, or uncommon ways of thinking u guys can suggest? ta

    I'm afraid that if you don't actually care you just can't be bothered to. I had the same problem going through school. What level of schooling are you in? In Jr High I was a top student, everyone was so proud then in highschool I just stopped caring. Meh...

    its not that i do care, i realise its important, its just a "Yeah, ill do it in a sec" delaying and delaying =/ and i know i have a problem but i dont have the **motivation** to fix it =/ or do something about it

    im in high school, yr 9

    im worried about my HSC though, i cant just go "okay ill settle down now and learn" =/

    Personally I dont think anything could change that, cause I'm living proof <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> I play 3 sports at my school (varsity football, jv basketball, and track) and I only play those so that they can "motivate" me. Well they dont. Nothing can motivate me, unless its somthing I really want to concentrate on or learn....like computers <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Math. I hate math, I know I have to learn it, but I won't. I get all A's and D's in math....If my parents said they'd get me anything I wanted to get an A in math, i still wouldnt, lol.

    The only thing I could suggest is to want somthing that is hard to get.... A girl that I use to like a lot motivated me....but then I got bored. Lol

    I guess I'm not much for help, <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Self hypnosis seems to work for me. So does my ADD medication, but I try to avoid taking that unless I'm studying.

    Think of what would happen later in life if you are going to do something ie You job career,

    and if you make dumb mistakes,bashing your head against your sofa is a god idea <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
    But for me it's so I can learn to code and make a Scorpian mod for NS,which I think has already been done <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The ANSWER:

    Motivation comes from within. You need to realize that there is no reason why you can't succeed.
    I've had bouts of poor motivation in High School but I've really gotten on track in college. Its pretty much all due to myself.

    Of course, a little external motivation like parents, grades, etc helps too.

    i have no motivation. none.

    just remember your living in a world where money stops you from starving and being homeless.
    in the end, if for nothing else, be motivated for money's sake.
    that rent aint gunna pay itself.

    (sadly).

    also try not think to get caught up in lame philosophical 'nothing matters anyway' ... 'whats the point' thoughts... etc..
    it doesnt help, and once again, doesnt pay the rent.

    Heh, I was a A/B student pretty much through school till' I moved to New York City. I got a few Cs, and in 8th grade I was 1 point away from failing math. Stopped caring, I guess (but it didn't help my teacher was an insane midget ****)... Now the things I need motivation for are Level Design and learning Japanese. Of course, they require work so I guess I can't do it.

    Don't worry about it - I turned 27 end of last year and I act just like you.
