Morowind Models To Ns (anyway)

<div class="IPBDescription">model transfers?</div> Can anyone tell me how to transfer Morowind models to ns? Textures would be just as good. Or from any other game if you know how?

    Umm, well, if MilkShape or 3DS Max or any other 3D editing program can import the Morrowind model format, then all you have to do is add a skeleton and animate them to port them over to Half-Life. Oh, and make sure the textures are all 256-color BMPs if they weren't before.

    Of course, if you don't already know how to create and compile a Half-Life model anyway, you'll have a heck of a time. Expect all sorts of errors and problems and setbacks figuring out how to write a proper QC file and be prepared to spend lots of time searching forums for specific answers to questions.

    If your next question is "Where do I get MilkShape or 3DS Max for free?" then turn off your computer right now and go play outside, junior.

    Thz, i got 3DS Max4 but its a bit buggered at the moment so ill have to get that fixed first.
    I dont really know what the morrowind model formate is. Ive been trying to work out the construction set that came with tribunal but its complicated. I have an idea how to compile ect but i havent put it into much practice.

    Will this be a waste of time since NS 2.0 is coming out? I herd somewhere that the models are changing or something.

    Note that Morrowind models are *very* different from HL models in design - they use separate model pieces for separate bones (e.g. the thigh and calf will be two different pieces of the mesh). While you can do this with HL models, it's not standard procedure and makes for models that look a little less realistic.

    At least, I think that's the way the models work. Not entirely sure; I haven't spent too much time with Morrowind.

    Well, all I know is, you'd have a HELL of a time getting the files into HL and still be near the same quality...in fact, I'd say its near impossible.

    So your saying it'd be best to just give up now and forget about it?

    I think ill wait and see if anything else comes up in about a week. If not ill just forget it and try something else later after ive learnt more about making models. Im just hoping to transfer a few things to HL from morrowing.
    Maybe im just getting ahead of myself.

    "Coil" If a give up in a week or so can you tell me now how to change the name the topic so i can ask for help on something more realistic? Posible get someone else to do it for me or with me.

    Morrowind models can't be exported without buying a $250,000 license or something. Then they give you the program to export.
