Installation Problem

<div class="IPBDescription">Installation Problem</div> I have the Counter-Strike retail version of Counter-strike. When I downloaded Natural Selection and tried to install it, I kept getting the message "You must be running at least version 1.1.1.0 of Half-Life or 1.3 of Counter-Strike retail in order to install the NSPT. Please upgrade, then re-run this installation."

But I downloaded the latest patch for Counter-Strike and I still cant play it.

I was looking at the webbed topics above and I tried downloading the dummy hl.exe but I got the same error.

Did I do something wrong, or is it a different problem altogether? <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Do I need Half-Life to play this mod or can I install it if all I bought was Counter-Strike?

    You can install it with counter strike.

    You did read the stickys right? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I read the stickys. I said so above. I don't see a solution to the problem.

    I downloaded the hl.exe dummy. When i tried to open it, it said "DLL File not found in path. Either incorrect compile option used, or system/file setup incorrect" "FATAL ERROR DLL(s) not found or created."

    And I still get the same error when I try to install.

    If I read your last post correctly, you tried to open the dummy file? If you did, I think you should read that sticky thread again.

    lol, I gets (sry didn't read your post well enugh)

    all you do is simply take dummy HL.exe and stick it in the same folder as your CS.exe then isntall THATS IT!

    hopew it works <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ok, I think there is some bad comunication here

    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->When i tried to open it, it said <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Open WHAT?

    you should not be oppening anything (well you should be running the installer <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    you don't have to open or run anything

    just click the link, tell it to DL into your CS dir (If I ussed CS it would look like: C:\games\sierra\CS\)

    when the DL is done just run the installer as per ussual, when you tell it your CS dir it will look through for a properly patched exe (either cs or hl), it will find the hl.exe (wich simply LOOKS like a patched exe and is infact nothing). Once the game is installed simply open UP CS (or your fav server browser) nd point at a NS server.

    *chomp*

    so, yah when do you get this error?
