Newb Ns Mapper, Getting Problems Up The Wazoo.

Problems up the wazoo.
I'm pretty new to NS mapping. I have experience with CS, TFC, HL, OpFor, QIII, etc... I'm not a mapping God, by ANY means, but I know my way around a level editor. Point being, I know how to map. But I'm getting some problems in NS.
First off, I can't get spawn points up. I can create the ready room, I can create info_jointeam entities tied to solids that tell to join Marines, but once I put spawn points for the Marine team in the map, the map freezes. Without the spawn points, I'm in spectator mode if I join Marines. This is REALLY bugging me, because in the Ready Room mode or whatever it is, I can't see the CC, and stuff doesn't work right- it's just a pain. Please, help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I use the FGD that's in the NS folder. Is that the problem? I notice it has a lot of HL entities in it, like monster_gargantua, xen_ entities, etc...
Second, does NS support texture lighting? Whenever I modify the lights.rad file to incorporate NS light textures, the map freezes, and won't stop freezing until I take delete the solid with the light texture.
Third off, and I feel really stupid asking this (), because this is the first time I've actually tried using it... I'm trying to get a conveyor belt working for this map... I've got it to the point where the conveyor belt moves me, but the texture doesn't scroll, which is a HUGE problem, because this will be non-interactive, you'll be able to see it through some metal that blocks it and such.
EDITNESS: I added a hive and a Kharaa spawn to my map, now my map is freezing whenever I look in the direction of a func_jointeam entity. The func_jointeams are tied to a solid brush. And I'm not sure if texture lighting is working now, I can't get to the map, I deleted the texture lighting brush to make sure it wasn't the problem. Could it be my FGD?

monster_gargantua wont work, that's right, though there is no need to delete the xen_entities. They all work perfect. The trees even hurt you. Anyway the FGD is only the interface for setting up the entities. You could as well create a NS map without it by renaming the entities and diasbeling Smart Edit.
Texture lights are not 'supported' at all. It is just another trick to cast the shadows on the else fullbright walls. Your compile tools need the lights.rad in a folder where they can find it. Try moving it forth and back between your ns\maps folder and the folder of your build tools. Also go sure that you either downloaded the file or edited it correctly (every line one texture name + red + green + blue + brightness). The colors range from 0 to 255 as usually.
I rarely use conveyor belts, but now that you mention this, maybe you should try a texture starting with scroll..., but I am just guessing.
[EDIT]It IS the texture. You must use a scroll*-texture or make a new .WAD file with the texture you want to use and rename it to scroll...
As I mentioned above texture lighting can never cause problems in game. If you see shadows the texture lighting process is already done and over.

copy the map, and any rescourece files to the valve folder, and load it up in that, ns, is one of the mods that crashes when you have a leek, while, cs and from what i understand dod don't
if its a leek, patch it up, and try again

As for spawning - What I had done wrong, and what NerdIII corrected me on, which was the biggest problem - in the ready room, in place of the null texture for info_join_team, I used one of the stagnant water textures. I don't remember the name of it, but it had an exclimation mark. Thanks, Nerd!
The Half-Life entities in the NS .fgd was just a curiousity - I thought it was a problem, seeing as how TFC and CS FGDs don't have Half-Life entities, but now I know... Once again, thanks Nerd!
The conveyor belts scrolling was fixed by adding scroll to the filename. I tested it out with scrollarc. Thanks again, NerdIII.
As for texture lighting - I know how it works and all, and by supported, what I meant was quite a stupid question - was NS capable of using textured lights. Then I realized my problem - rather than editing Zoners HL Compile Tools .rad, I edited Hammers. That was pretty stupid of me... I also know texture lights aren't dynamic lights.
I would just like to point out, NerdIII, you seem REALLY knowledgeable about all of this. I tip my hat off to you, (overlooking the fact I don't own a hat) and thank you for you're support.
amckern: no, I don't have a leak. I am not a total n00b, as I stated before, I have working knowledge of multiple mapping programs including Hammer, and I could start a basic map. But, nevertheless, I greatley appreciate your input, and thank you for your effort.
k\o\w: I keep developer mode on when wokring on maps. What I was trying to say was, that if I added a spawn point, the ready room would freeze the game. What I mean is, picture this: You spawn facing a wall. If you turn to your left, you'll see the Marine start portal. Once I looked at it, the game locked up if there were any spawn points in the level, aside from info_player_start. What I mean by spectator mode, is the situation you're in when you die, and you're in rein. I get free look, naturally, because there's no spawn point. It's like the mode you get when Onos are in your base, but they won't kill your IP. You can fly around because there are no valid targets. The problem this presented was, in this mode, since the game didn't start, I couldn't see the comm. chair and some other entites. But, as with amckern, I do value your input, and it's better than the input I got from my friends... Usually consisting of either some staring, or a burp, seeing as how they don't make/edit levels...
Wow. That's about 500 words of overly descriptive rambling. I have WAAAAY too much time on my hands

[o/t] I love that font you use in your sig amckern 'scalled "An Alien Ate My Mum" if I do remember correctly. Sorry for the off-topicness that just brightened my bleak "just reinstalled windows" day! [/o/t]
Yeah NerdIII'll set you straight he's God-Like Really. He he.
