I think the people on nano-gridlock think I'm nuts , but does anyone else get stuck in the floor/ wall sometimes when they lag? If anyone knows what to do to keep that from happening aside from the obvious of avoiding walls and floors before lag. . . please let me know. The other wierd thing about it is that I notice that I get stuck in the floors at a lot of servers, but not all of them. It's very strange I know.

Yup, it happens. I get stuck in walls all the time after lag bubbles, as skulk, marine, and especially onos.

I'll be damned if I know why it happens.

Nope. Never happens to me. Your nuts

That's probably fixed in 2.0

On an off-topic note, are you the same Jane I was playing with on Nano-Grid yesterday?

one of the methods to stop becoming stuck in floors and walls in lag bubbles is to try to look directly up, or just move ur mouse in that direction, i makes the model move slightly which seems to help. hope this helps u

I can never honestly say that I've noticed it being the fault of lag if I get stuck. Most often it's because of a messed up blink(I use blink a LOT).

This is not just a nano thing it's happened to me on every server I've played on except G.I.Joe's, and I have no clue why.

yes, I was the only Jane there yesterday as far as i know (in my almost year of playing ns I have yet to see another Jane )

Blink isn't the problem for me because when this happens it's just general walking around the map. (I don't though go fade often due to not wanting embarrasing knife kills during lag )

hey Jane
I was watching you on Nano warping around.

its called a "lag spike" i think, when you are frozen in place, and everything stops, only for a few seconds/minutes later for you to appear in a completely different place.

And yes it happens to me often.

The wierd thing isn't the spiking I mean that happens everywhere/ all the time; the wierd thing is that I actually get temporarily stuck in the floor/ wall after about 1 of every 5 lags. Like I've steped in gum, and I can't move, but after about 3-4 time pressing forward or a /stuck I'll move, it's strange .

Here's the real question: Why play in laggy servers?
• halcoberry_houndhalcoberry_hound Join Date: 2003-07-20 Member: 18309Members, Constellation, Reinforced - Shadow
as stupid as it may sound, it a common problem with ns. Although they made vast improvements from the relaease of the ns 1.04 server side patch. NS is still very CPU hungry not only client side but server side. Although u dont tend to notice as the client since anything above about 1.0 GHz makes no different but it kills the server CPU, thats the lag spikes

I'm the one that lags. . . . even the server that I didn't get stuck in floors at had their fair share of lag, so server lag isn't the issue.

whats the specs of ur computer and internet connection. you may have the settings of the hl set up incorrectly because generaly the predictive movement for hl isnt to bad.

well it doesnt really matter, in the matter of a week a huge chunk of lag spikes will be killed with the release of ns 2.0

(doesn't know anything about computers) but um specs = ram, video card, and hard drive space according to a friend...) um I have a nice video card (60 fps), a new computer as of last summer, plenty of hard drive space ... um ram is 215 MB, processor is Pentium 4, but the lag comes form my bad wireless cabel connection I don't have problems at all when I'm at school with this computer. There they have like some kind of uber t-1 or t-3 no lag 20 ping awesome internet thing there, I've never lagged (my side) there or gotten stuck in the floor. It has to be something with the internet connection.

meh, only thing i can think of is to buy a new wireless card. there are some really crapy ones out there. or u could buy one of those satelite fingos for wireless cards. Been a while since i have done much with a wireless network at work.

Supposedly my mom bought a really good adaptor it's a wireless usb adaptor 2.4 GHz Linksys thing, it's the most updated version too (2.6), I don't know why I lag. I have gotten used to the lag though it's just that when I am being attacked and I get stuck in the floor it's horrible for one because I normally play as a skulk so I can't walk up to the person and bite them and for another thing if I /stuck when under attack people might think I'm trying to abuse the /stuck plugin . Either one = anti good. I'll look into what a satalite fingo is thanks.

If only it were that simple... I guess just tossing this crappy connection away would be the simple answer, though I am almost back at school so it will have to do for now, I'll try to fiddle with some of the other stuff when I come back.
