Well maybe the part about the mods not being nazi-esque,
These boards have ALWAYS(at least for as long as I've been here) been much more civil that any others I have been to.

No it's not news to anyone but recently there have been a lot of discussion threads creeping into OTF and some people complained about it (aka backseat Admining) so he was just saying that it's nice to see the Admins do their job how they want to and not how people say they should.

The discussion forums were locked because they got too flamatory and it actually begun to divide ns-forum community. Hopefully discussion forum gets another(or actually third) chance and people get to show that they can discuss in civil ways. Several jerks(me being one of the top ones) ruined those discussions back then, maybe after 2.0 <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

Discussions were not ruined because they were to flamatory, they were very tame compared to nearly eery other discussion board out there that doesn't have every post screened. Basically I think they were locked because the mods didn't trust us. Or at least that's my hypothesis.

the problem was that they would very quickly divert from the topic of discussion and end up in a few people trying to prove each other wrong.

The moderators are overworked already, this would be the coup-de-grace. And automatic screening doesn't work.
