As for mess hall being a choke point, there is a door by marines 'first res node.' I dont know if anyone noticed it, but its on the left as you make your way down to mess hall. That door connects aux gen to that node, but I guess it was too easy for mariens, so he closed it off.
Marine start needs to be a docking bay, and a ship inside it or something like that, and call it "Emergency Docking Bay." That would certenly open up the marine start quite a bit. Oh, and make the vents not as...sloppy. Make them nice and neat, not ...sloppy. They were very sloppy in the 1.0x nancy.
By "neat" you mean "possible to enter without using leap or flight" right? Yes, that needs to be done.
I rather liked mess hall as a choke point. Nancy was a great map because it mostly had such a clear mission: take and keep mess hall, and stage attacks from there. One of the better maps to learn how to command on, in my opinion.
This should be handy when looking to reproduce entity placement and such. Architecture will have to be recreated by hand unfortunately but it does give a jumping board for creating an RMF file.
I thought of and started this a when nancy we first being taken out of NS. I had already started the MS spawn but during a harddrive crash it was lost.

Copy the bsp file into another directory, then open the copy with notepad.
Scroll down 2/3 of the way down or so past all the gibberish and you'll run into entity coordinates, types of entities and flags.
