Psycological Effect

*chuckles*
As a pscological effect to freak the marines out, I find it quite usefull to chuckle. Like, near the marines base, when doing a skulk rush, someone can hide in a vent, or whatever good place there is to hide, and begin to chuckle in short intervals.

This once happened to me. I was on ns_hera, and the comm told us all to guard the base, and prpare for a skulk rush. And there was this once skulk, who was hiding, and was chuckling like mad. Everyone from out team where looking around, trying to find where he was, and while we did this, in came more skulks.
I don't know if this happened because the whole team sucked big time (me included), or if this can really have an effect.

i quite often use chuckle to make marines look in my direction if im working with another alien nearby (preferably on the other side of the marine [duh ]). not many people take advantage of my distractions, but a few people who are on the ball notice and the 'plan' works.
makes me feel all warm inside to have spontanious double teams work.

i also set chuckles up when i want to prepare a guerilla attack on a lone or couple marines, the fact is when they hear you chuckle they immediatly say, well i should stay near base but its only one skulk ill kill it easily. well when they encounter me i like to preform the "more skulk chukle" i have it binded to my 0 button when they hear it and im near a gorge ill go in a different direction and chuckle, if the gorge is smart and stops building to go stealth they come in my direction, i always try to find away around them where they cant see me i go behind th em and chuckle again, almost like a ghost affect, sometimes it scares them and they run try it sumtime, it works on non veteran marines

ALSO: when a marine shoots at you and u scramble away and chuckle just so they can hear they usually become angry and pised to they try to finish the job thus resulting in anger and overconfidence they dont go there way of controlled burtsts they usually go all spray and pray, and usually the skulk wins if the marine doesnt have good aim close range wise

It happens to us all, and will keep happening untill we either loose our ego's or quit. When I'm a 'rine sitting in base and theres a skulkeh outside chukling like mad, I always think 'I'll show him to chuckle at me'. And almost instinctively go after him. Don't laugh, we all do it, Including you in the back, so stop laughing!

this is a very effective strategy. I remember once I was marine and commanding on ns_caged. The Kharaa got Sewer hive and so they were able to easily get to our base through the little vent that runs from sewer vestibule to marine start. a single skulk just camped out there from the beginning of the game, chuckling away.... and my marines just refused to leave base! 4 of them were constantly tied up staring at the vent shooting when they thought they saw something, then went back to hump the armory and glare at the vent again.

There are stupid marines on every team, and tying them up with a simple chuckle and sitting out of thier grasp is a great way to half the manpower on a marine team.

I do that every time on caged, while I wait res for a lerk. Once the commander actually built a tf, upgraded it and built a siege because of my regen He didn't even bother to scan when the marines yelled I have a dc there.

The vent chuckle on caged is particularly nasty if you can get the rest of the team to run in the front door while every marine in base is trying to climb into the vent.

Mostly, it only works on idiots. However, there are a lot of idiots out there.

About the vent thing in Caged : the marines do have reasons to get worried when they hear aliens here , the DCs-in-vents strat is horribly effective , as they are out of reach for quite long and provide support in combat to rushing skulks (if there aren't enough base guards a single skulk can take out the comm and the respawning marines one by one no matter how many IPs there are)
That's why most experienced marines directly weld the vent.
Since marines generally hate TFs at base , they try to tech rush , forced to stay at base because of the skulks frequently attacking the base (not true in bigger games) while the gorge is happily capping the whole map and the last skulk cleaning rambos and possible marine RTs. By the time the marines have jetpacks or a GL , the 2nd hive is up and the gorge can drop 3 new DCs to defend it.

I'll have to try the regen skulk trick before the new Caged it out with 2.0 (fooling marines into thinking there are DCs in the vent)

Ya i did that once on tanith - they were in marine start an i showed my face and chuckled like mad - then i ran off... then their comm was like "OMG MY MEN R ALL MORONS THEY KEEPING RUNNING OUT OF BASE WHEN I TELL THEM TO BUILD ARMORY" And i was like " "

yeah I often do that as marine too, taunt or flashlight dance or whatever to lure

also what I've noticed is that sometimes ramboing marines have a strange ability to coordinate their efforts, I don't mean adjusting to each other's presence on the fly, but rather, for instance, systematically destroying their res nodes in different parts of the map then meeting up at the same time in front of their hive, without any communication with each other or from comm.
