Does nancy really have to go? there is a program called BSP to MAP. It can convert a BSP file (the map file that you play with) to a MAP file, (the file that you edit). It works on half-life even though it was originaly made for quake. I have used it before, but not on NS maps. So you can fix nancy without having the original source MAP or RFM (or whatever) files. Heres the link http://www.cop-team.org/tutorial/swat3_winbsp.htm And also just something i wanted to know... What if you digest a marine, then evolve into a skulk?

Damn dont work. Ns must have some copyright map protection or something. All the custom ns maps work but official dont. There are more converters out there. Search and see if you can find more, search in any searchengine 'bsp to map halflife' and try different ones. Also try adding removing words from the seach.

You get a very fat skulk.

The latter is actually a damn good question, I don't suppose many people evolve from onos to skulk

it's not been removed because it's not good, only because of stuck issues.

Trying to get a .map from a .bsp is just like trying to get a fully-layered photoshop image from a .jpg - it ain't going to happen. Too much information is "lost" in the compile.

    you can't evolve when digesting

So essentially, unless someone recreates the .map file by starting over from scratch, ns_nancy is OUT. This sounds like a lot of work, but I'm sure somebody would volunteer if it were suggested officially (and I believe the original mapper would give the thumbs-up too). It would still be LESS work than making the map from the beginning was.

Are you sure of that? I have converted other maps and they worked well. Or is it only NS maps which suffer becasue they are complex or something? And also custom NS maps convert well, and besides even if it does not convert all of the entities, or all of the textures or what ever you will still have the base of the map. Then you can just add all the crap after right? That's if you find a working decompile program.

*yes, you dont need to highlight swears in other posts. I would explain it all here why it didn't, but frankly, I dont have the time to right now*

Actually, I have a friend who is in the process of 'reclaiming' Nancy, mostly just to see if it can be done. Won't be anywhere near the state that would be needed for inclusion in v2.0 (especially as the map deadline has already passed, IIRC), so it's mostly a fool's errand unless it's wanted back in a future revision, and he can reconvert it in a satisfactory fashion.

Goliath - I'm sure repeating it in bold is exactly what the mods would like you to do...
