Some Very Odd Map Issues

crashes, res points
Ok im making my first NS map with knowledge from HL and TFC mapping. I read some guides about the NS entity system and i set up a small gimmick map containing 4 "slides" all down to a little floor with some water. On top of 3 of the slides there are a hive, 16 spawnpoints for aliens and 3 res points. On top of the last there is a commander console, 16 marine spawn points and 3 res nodes. I placed one (havent made the readroom yet) readyroom spawn inside the map and i used to use the jointeamone/jointeamtwo to join a team from there in the earlier tests.

Before i had a bix sky box around the whole map but since i added the water at the venter platform (where the "slides" ends) and no sky or a sky as top of the water area then i get this issue:

The map crashes when i look at the center of the map. It happends both when the center area roof is a sky or if im in spectator mode and look there. It freezes when i look there for more than 1-2 seconds and i have to restart my comp. I thought it would be something with too much inside the view or sumthing. A note is that i changed the default max view distance (worldspawn) and the minimap settings to something that fits to my map.

The res point issue is the one you see in so many custom maps.. You simply cant build it or have to look some odd way and stand 20 feet away from it. I placed them enough away from eachother (at least 200 units all way around) but the middle one can never be builded.. Why?

Might be because you've converted .rmf to .map or vice versa? OR maybe it is just a map fault, I've had things like that in normal HL mapping and when mapping for CS.

Now you say it.. I decompiled a map to .map, deleted everything and started up a map from the beginning and saved it as .rmf. Would that do it? If so cant i just copy it all into a clean file?

No, that wouldn't solve the problem. Just use the 'new map' button and start it again. I remember making a map, when suddenly, this happend. If I looked at some point of the map, it crashed. No idea why...

I know... It sucks... Try to do this:

Delete parts of your map (not exposing the 'inside' to the 'void', of course) and compile. See if it runs ok. If it does, narrow your delete and find the problem.

Or, you can always use the 'omit zone' of compiling, but since you must have all the start positions and other entities in it, it's practically useless...

copy the map to your valve maps folder, and hit console in normal hl, and load it up that way, when i get map issues, thats how i try and find out what they are

if u use anything more then halflife.wad or stock half life wads, then wad include them into the bsp before you copy it over

also, copy custom rescoucres, such as sounds, you are useing in the ns folder, to the right folder in the valve one
