Do you mean services or processes? Without a list of your current processes, I can't help you. As far as services (and tweaking in general), take a look at the readyroom.org <a href='http://www.readyroom.org/perfgde_1.html' target='_blank'>Windows XP/2000 Tuning Guide</a> .
Tell us more about what proc's you have running right now and we can cover that aspect as well...

quick one on how to take a screenie: 1) hit cntrl print screen 2) open a paint program (ms paint, photo shop what ever) 3) paste (cntrl V) 4) select the area you want to save (in this case the taskmanager) 5) copy that 6) open a new blank canvas and paste again 7) save and post

It might be because of my terrible connection - i have a dailup to a university 20 miles away.
see? - it says this (a simple copy paste job)
THE FOLLOWING ERROR(S) WERE FOUND -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You cannot upload this type of file
As for system information - after you get to the properties of my comp do you just want the "General" info? Because that is just a bunch of numbers and things. Also, how would i find out what video and sound card (if any) that i have.
One last question - how come people can post these huge screenies that are bigger than my monitor but my jpg image of the task manager takes up 112620 bytes - just a few kilobytes shorter than the limit?
<!--QuoteBegin--Caiman+Jul 20 2003, 04:25 PM--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (Caiman @ Jul 20 2003, 04:25 PM)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> One last question - how come people can post these huge screenies that are bigger than my monitor but my jpg image of the task manager takes up 112620 bytes - just a few kilobytes shorter than the limit? <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Because we use h4x.
Auctually we use a program to compress the images (I use ACDSee).
You can also do Start > Run "dxdiag" (if it's the same in Windows 2000, I don't know) It will give you a run-off of your specs, click the "Display" tab for information regarding your video card (whatever it may be). The "Sound" tab does the same with your sound card.
Hope this helps, good luck. <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

svchost
that aint good
I had a problem recently where alot of copies of that program would spawn, the fact that you have 2 of them sorta worries me. But if you havn't gotten that problem you probably don't have to worry
Samwise is correct, although if you see certain programs running that you want to remain running don't end them. Don't quit explorer.exe or it will get rid of windows and some other nasty things.
Or instead of doing it Samwise's crazy way (sheesh), you could find out what each of processes does and make a determination and what is silly crap and what is running due to the OS making it run. Just killing processes won't necessarily do anything, as they will respawn the next time you boot up, unles you find out the source - in registry run or in a startup folder or as a service or as a scheduled AT job.
