how do you make the holes in laders, floors etc clear

    I make all my vents 64 units square.

    Doors should be between 128 and 256 units square.

    Holes in ladders and floors are done using { prefix textures and rendermode solid.

    Transparent water is done using texture rendermode. This will always be fullbright, so be careful where you use it.

    IMO 64 units is pretty big for an air vent, maybe if it was maintainance tunnel or something.

    FYI: A passage has to be at least 33 units wide and 37 units tall for a skulk/gorge/lerk or crouching marine/fade to fit through. 33 units wide and 73 units tall for a standing marine/fade or crouching Onos. and 65 units wide and 109 units tall for a standing Onos.

    Don't forget the Onos crouch is the same as a standing marine/fade!

    chrome you can acutally create the illusion of water so it doesnt glow, i did this in my de_toltec map
