Help!
Every time I download something, it doesnt give me the option where to save it. It (the page) just goes white, then opens up the file that I just downloaded. But its not in anything, my docs, nothing...

Does anyone know why this happens? I'm trying to download the SST pack (just for some choice models, of course) and it is not workin..

You probably set zip's to auto-open. They should be saved in your browser's temporary files directory.

Right-clicking the link and hitting "save target as" should let you specify a location to save it to. But the ones you've already downloaded should be living in your temporary internet files, as these chaps said.

Here let me lay this on the table.

I suck with computers, I know nothing about them. I do all the obvious things on them (IE Gaming, Typing, Internet, etc...), but when something goes wrong, I scream help

How, do I solve this? The file just downloads from the site automatically with a blank page behind it, and then opens up. Doesnt give me the option to save it anywhere, nor does it save anywhere. I have to copy and paste it into a new folder and this is just **** me off.

Thats what happens, can someone help me.?

Right-click on the downlaod link and select "save target as", then you can specify where to put it.

    Ok here's what you've done:

In IE, when you click on a link to a zip file or similar type, a dialog box appears. The dialog box has 3 options: Open, Save, Cancel. It also has a checkbox marked "Always ask before opening this type of file".

If you uncheck this box, then the next time you click a link to this filetype, IE will simply open the file without giving you the dialog box.

To fix this, go into the Folder Options... panel. (Tools -> Folder options from any regular explorer window). In this panel, switch to the File Types tab.

You now have to scroll down the list of registered file types and find the type of file you've chosen to auto-open. It will probably be the .zip filetype, so scroll down to the 'Z's.

Once you've selected the filetype, click Advanced, and then check the box marked Confirm after Download.

You should now be able to save files normally.

Regardless, you should be able to right click and explicitly save it somewhere. If it is "automatically" saving, chances are there is a redirect on the page that is automatically redirecting your browser to the file. When you load the page, hit escape to stop this redirect, and then try right clicking and saving manually.
