odd but effective
My comming strategy involves finding where the hive is, then dividing the map in half, marine start, and one hive on one half, and the alien hive on the other half, preferably the 3rd hive in the middle..
From there i cap 4 of the closest res to marine start and the hive on my half immediately after making 2 ip's and an armory.
Then by watching the overhead map and listening closely i vector all marines to keep the res nodes alive under all costs while also rushing the enemy hive to try and kill gorge.
By having 4 rt's really early off it is possible to tech up extremely quickly, getting 2 armories to pump out upgrades, making them complete all the faster.
Get a Phase gate up to the hive you are "controlling"
Use any available extra res to make a turret base at the one hive you have, and get a proto lab up.
WIth 4 res nodes and 2 arms labs, the advanced armory, ha/jp (whatever u choose) and level 3 arms and armor should all finish within about 10 seconds of each other about 10-15 minutes(early) into the game provided you worked fast enough.
Then recycle your 2 arms labs, thereby giving you nearly 50 res, plus what you have saved up since upgrades and start handin out packets of hmg/jp or hmg/welder/ha ect whatever you choose
Rush into the hive you dont have, it should be almost complete if the aliens are competant at all. Take it out and cap the res and pg up there too.....
Move into the last hive, anyone who died attacking the last hive attacks from the other entrance with shiny new jp/hmg or ha/hmg WHATEVER
Crush it and take out the stragglers
This strategy is very effective for me as long as several conditions are met
1. MARINES LISTEN
2. MARINES LISTEN
3. MARINES LISTEN
4. MARINES LISTEN
5. Marines work together
If these conditions are met, the early res stay up, and the marine team is given a huge advantage that lasts throuought the match....

Holding the 4 nearest RTs huh...so on ns_eclipse that'd be STA, Horseshoe, Southloop and Triad? 2 of the 4 'closest' nodes are right outside of hives. You expect a team of anywhere from say...5 to 7 marines to guard 4 res nodes AND pressure the hive? Again, must be some super marines you've got there. And then you expect to turret up one hive before making an assault? I think a good alien team will already have 2 hives up by the time you finish turretting up one hive. This strat is too slow imho.
