I've gotten bad surface extent errors befoe but never like this. This one I can't fix. I'm not a "n00b" I"ve been mapping for the Half-Life engine for over 4 years and I've come across this error more than the famous LEAK LEAK LEAK, however detective work has always led me to the right brush and corrected the mix-up. I was just wondering fi anyone has any Hints or Tips as to how they solve this **** of an error.

Thanks all,

~DarkATi

I knew it, just my luck. Just as I post this topic I fixed it.

Here was the problem (if you care and have a few minutes to spare.) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> I scaled a brush flat as a pancake and then (apparently) selected the whole thing and went into the texture tool box, I hit the "fit" button and it fit the textures on the sides of this pancake to like 4 pixels high by 1029 wide. Big mistake. Thank God ofr Merl's build which tells me what texture is on the face, I hope VALVe includes a "Find Face Number" feature in Hammer 2.

Sorry for the unnecessary postage. My apologies.

use a batch compiler and its error log shows you brush number or xyz position of the error.

Scaling textures too much causes this error. Scaling something like bigger than 10x or smaller than 0.1x will cause this, but I'm not sure exactly at what point you'll get the error.

You can also produce this error if you mess with -texchop and the like.
