Will there be an early NS 2.0 Server release so we can get our servers up and running for the big debut?

    Now thats not fair, we should all get ns 2.0 at the same time. I mean some of us have servers but are not in "higher power" like you people are.

    Don't get yourself all bent out of shape. The server release will be just that. It will not be playable, it will only work as a server. <-- I'm basing this assumption on the server release of NS 1.0.

    1 day before release will be good enough. I hope the cpu usage of linux ns version drop down like the windows version. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I have no idea what you mean by 'Higher power'.

    It's very simple. The installation files for the Windows and Linux servers will be made available on the mirrors 24 hours before the client is made available.

    That way all server operators have ample time to download it before the players come running looking to play.

    i.e. Everyone gets the server files at the same time, and everyone gets the client files at the same time.

    I can't concieve of anything fairer than that.

    It has.

    The changes that have been made to 2.0 are intrinsic in the code... so any improvement on windows, is mirrored on linux.... however... It's beginning to look to me like the linux server is faster/lower cpu <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    That's, of course, because Linux is superior to Win32 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    What makes you feel that since you are just a meager user who posts here sometimes and perhaps plays this game once in a while that you contribute enough to actually get the client build a day or so early? Secondly, Server Operators ALWAYS get a server build before you, no matter what Modification/Game it happens to be -- this practice is simple, when the servers are released and updated at a late time in the night, it is easier for the next morning or early afternoon to release a client build and people can go happily off to fragging their friends and/or enemies.
