Going To Setup A New Server...need Some Advice...

Ok, I just upgraded my DSL to 6Mbps down/ 384Kbps up. It has a dynamic address.
First should that be enough bandwidth for 18-20 users? Will the dynamic address pose a problem? Currently it changes about weekly.

Now on to the hardware. I'll be buying a server shortly. I have Windows 2003 Server Enterprise I'll be using as the OS.
Are there recommendations I should be using for RAM & hard drives on the machine? i.e. are IDE drives fine or should I use SCSI? I know how much RAM i need for the OS, but what about for NS and the players. I'd like to get enough where the server doesn't crash in cash of mine/turret spam.

well you can get an address from somewhere like no-ip.com that will keep your current ip updated....however 384 upstream i think is kinda low for an 18-20 person server.... maybe after 2.0 comes out that will be good, but afaik thats gonna cause some lag.

for the actuall box, i'd put as much ram as you could in it, no less than 512...also tweak your box so you dont' run un needed things....you really don't even need win2k3 server..... win2k pro would be fine...still just go and turn off the services you dont' need runing.

For 384 upstream you could limit your rate to 4000 and squeeze 12 people in.
