<div class="IPBDescription">Version: Pre-RC3, I need suggestions</div> Hi, my map has taken ages to complete, and finally is near to release.

I want to release it as soon as I can get it finished and I while I remove the last placeholder corridors and redo some lighting, do the last rooms..., I'd like to know what do you think about the layout and where would you put the vents (as I just have two...)

Thanks on advance

Edit: Added info on the layout: Hives, Resources, Marine Start and the CC

    Looks nice, but I think it would be easier for us to give our opinions if you could put out where the marine start, hives and resource towers are. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    EDIT: Ooooh! You were doing that while I was typing! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Hmm. The 2 side hives seem very close to the MS while they're very far from each other.

    Maybe you should consider moving them "up" (in the orientation of your pic) to equal the spacing a bit.

    Yes, the right side hive in particular.

    Another small thing is that vent leading in the left side hive, i cant be sure cause i dont see the Z axis but it looks like the vent gives a direct view on the hive. If the vent exit, hive side, is moved up or down a bit (in the orientation of your screenie) in the room it will force jetpackers to go to the end of the vent to actualy be able to shoot the hive, so a skulk or lerk have a chance of biting/spike him.

    Btw i looked at screenies of your map on NS world and this looks very promising, can't wait to play it! <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The right side is a little easier to get for marines and the top one the hardest... I want to fix that on RC4, but I want to release RC3 first so I can get MORE feedback <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    There's no "visual contact" with the hive from that vent, and actually hasn't that "long-range owning marines problem" (I hope, it's not a straight line, it's a vertical vent too), the left hive is about 40 seconds or so on a NSTR marine run

    I took care of some details <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The vent leading to the MS is weldable, I'll add more vents, one room, two corridors, well, maybe in a week or so I can release something solid and playable (hopefully before NS 2.0, btw, I'll update it ASAP when it's out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)

    looking good.... wonder if we'll be able to play in that big pool of water next to the right side hive.

    BTW.... whatever happened with that hallway you were looking to name a while back?

    I'd be very worried about un-even travel times between the hives.

    At the start of the game the marines have the option to go left with a long dark walk to the nearest node or go right for another long (well lit) walk to a node and a hive. I predict that in most games marines will take that hive first, the pattern is then set that they take the north hive and finally the west hive. I strongly doubt the west hive will see much action at all, being just too far away.

    The west hive is so close to the MS shotgun rushing might even be effective.

    I realize this is possibly completely wrong since I'm getting my info from an overview, but I'd be worried that that one room with the lake might be a little too half-life-ish.

    I don't really know what you mean. But you can't go outside the corridor, that's just for the looks, to give it a little... uhm... ambience? cohesion? I don't have the appropiate words... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Did you mean that?

    And, Chrome, I'll try to fix the layout problems ASAP <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    1: Make sure there are no direct veiws to the hive from a vent
    2: Make more vents as early game "short cuts" for the alien team; one-way areas generally mean a turret farm can block a skulk easy. If a vent is bypassing the one-way area the one-way area suddenly loses its use for a turret farm.

    West hive too close.
    East and west hive far to far away.
    And holy crap if the east hive is about 40 seconds
    away how long away is the north hive? <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The hive on left is 40 seconds, it's the hardest hive to "get fast", the other two hives are more... "near" the MS, the north hive has a similar run time, like 37-38 seconds.

    btw, the marine on the NSTR was way faster than the actual marine so... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'm going to move rooms, or delete rooms to reduce the run times and to get the times more even.

    Let's see if I can release it before 2.0 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
