Well the Lance was like Returning to an owner, I don't get it either. But the mass-produced Evas were all running dummy plugs. For those of you who don't know a dummy plug is like AI it doesn't need a pubescent teenager to pilot it. If Asuka had listened and destroyed them completely, IE tearing their heads off or ripping out the dummy plugs she wouldn't have been eaten in the end.
I personally liked 'End of Eva' better than the series ending of 'Human Instrumentality' it depends on your state of mind I guess, happy ending, violent ending, happy ending, violent ending..
The whole people melting into goo thing is kinda like them returning back to primeval ooze. And the old guy who brought about the end of the humanity is supposed to be immortal or something trapped in an Earth hell purgatory whatever the hell. I never understood it, anyway only way for him to die and go to heaven or hell is by destructing the entire human race. How selfish is that?
I like Misato and Asuka, everyone else in that series can **** off.. cept maybe Kaji. Rei is not a character no matter what any of you fan-boy's think! She doesn't talk with emotion, she doesn't show emotion, cept maybe twice, and she certainly isn't the most intresting. Just because she's 2d doesn't mean she has to be flat (No I'm not talking about her breasts) The only episode where Rei has character is the one where Shinji is in the dream like world and she they are rushing to school to meet a teaching Misato.
Shinji, Asuka, and Misato are the only great characters here. The rest are only there to accent their personality or background.
I watched it dubbed, and it was excellent. I saw the movies subbed, though, and it sounded *really* wierd. But not nearly as wierd as watching Martian Successor Nadesico (or some other dubbed anime with Spike Spencer (Shinji) voice acting), and yelling "go Shinji!" about some totally unrelated character
Anyway Asuka doesn't grow to large god-like proportion.......

Bah! The female characters in that movie suck as females. The only one that I didn't just plain hate by the end of the series is Asuka, but if I were in Shinji's place (and considering the fact that class rep was already taken) I probly would have gone for the Kaoru too.
Frankly, almost all of teh characters in NGE ended up just **** me off. If they weren't whiny, or stupid they were either not integral to the story, or just got killed off. I mean, the only character that most people watching could identify with is that little nerd-boy (I forget his name) because if they put im in Shinji's place surounded by chicks (however not atractive to me personally they may be) and in control of the giant robot of doooooooom, he would have been happy and content, and everything would have turned out all hunky-dory. And Kaoru, I liked him too, just because he was a nice dude, and the stuff he said actually made sense. And the controllers, I liked them becasue they weren't over-complicated.
Kaji: It seems I have done all I needed to do. A little bit of talking, sex and a major plot device! Oh well I think I'll go get shot now. Hello you're late!"
The movie ended the series on a real bad way. They had this great idea and then blew it on something that seemed to be put together in roughly 10 seconds. The main characters either didn't act right or they acted flat and stupidly. Shinji just sat and whined a lot. I mean he wasn't THAT pathetic in the series. And Asuka was out there trying to help him out. And he fells some concern for her in the series but not the film.
Rei said practically nothing except a load of babble but at that point my mind had glazed over and I didn't really care for the film anymore seeing as it had been mutilated in a rather horrid way.....
I haven't seen any episodes passed 12 right now, but I think Asuka, Maya(mostly from watching the ending to I notice it, don't think I'm supposed to know her name yet), Misato and somewhat, Shinji have decent developement. However, I did watch "The End of Evangelion" and it just got me **** at Shinji for being to wussy. I don't think I could be that wussy if I tried (I am rather stoic though, usually have a monotonous tone, which probably annoys everyone, but I am f-ed up, so don't worry about me).
Rei is cool in how Asuka talks to Shinji about her and he just stands there dumbfounded. Asukas cool because she make fun of Shinji. Not sure what episode it is, but (Minor Spoiler I guess) Shinji says he pilots the Eva to get praise from his father and Asuka says "Thats your reason, you really are stupid." It's quite funny (at least to me).
Asuka also reminds me of someone with her personality, not really her looks, sorta like Meryl does from Trigun (combine the two). I think I'll go watch some more, and then ponder purchasing the DVD's, consider my monetary predicament and feel moderately put off that I can't afford them.
Then again, I haven't seen the whole thing, so don't listen to me.
Listening to: Hide your love away, by Eddie Vedder ...Since I had a Beatles version and it annoyed me.
Meh. Lain isn't nearly as good as NGE. I was very disapointed by it. There were so many foreshadowings and potential leads which it didn't pick up on (or got rid of very quickly), it lacked complexity, and anyone with knowledge of how computers and computer communications worked can tear apart the main storyline with little effort. I don't have some kind of... vendetta against it, but.... I found it very disapointing.
Umm, the point of Rei as a character was NOT to have a character. "Vessel for a soul" as I heard someone else say (probably not on the forums). Asuka was kind of annoying and bitched a lot about Shinji and Rei in the series (not to mention having a major inferiority complex) but would've kicked **** in the movie if it weren't for that damn... ah, nevermind.
If Shinji were replaced by an American, the Angels would be a bloody pulp, along with the mass-produced Evas...

Its called respect and honor. Get some man.
I personally dont believe Shinji ever loved Auska. I don't believe he "loved" any girl in NG:E.
Anyone I've loved I've had far to much respect for to even think about doing that to an image of them in my mind. Heck, I can't even do that to the name of someone I love...but then again, I am really f-ed up. Once I fix the few loop-holes in how my honor system works it'll be fool-proof.
I would also have a small problem with doing anything when the other person is comatose...heh.
I can see Shinji's character doing it though...just the way he is.
Listening to: Addicted, by Simple Plan ...nothing interested to say, but I doubt anyone reads this.
You would think that with the movies and shows nowadays, I wouldn't be fazed by anything that blasphemizes against the Disney animation law of "fun for the whole family. Well maybe it was because of all the hype that surrounded NG:E that forced me to give an opinion. Anyways, here it goes:
I feel that a close comparison to NG:E would be to a series of Care Bears... which then takes a course not too unlike The Happy Tree Friends, which then follows with a ending consisting of "Don't worry. They all lived and lived happily ever after"
I generally enjoyed the first 2/3 of the series, simple fun story. After that, a wave of sadism starts to strangle the story, and everything is left to rotfrom there on up til the final 2 episodes.
