24hr Lans
<div class="IPBDescription">urgh.... sleeeeep.</div> I'm something of a LAN ****.
From the hours upon hours of games that are at my disposal, to the insane download speeds (10Mbps anyone?) LAN's are fun for everyone involved.
Probably my most favourite type of LAN is getting a few of my old school mates and holding a 24hr LAN party for 8 people.
God... we hardly play any new games either.....
Here's a list of the games I can REMEMBER playing:
Red Alert 2
Midtown Madness 2
Raven Shield
Half-life: Suprise
Codename: Eagle
I also managed to fill 40Gb of space somehow...
Bad things about 24hr LAN's:
- I am absolutely wasted.
- I don't feel like talking to anybody
- I think I still owe people money... but I can't remember who and how much....

Wrong. I have adsl and enjoy LAN parties very much. They do get even lower pings and you can paly some pretty bandwith-hungry games. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
How would you get drunk then?
Apparently you can get drunk on water.
Providing you drink enough of it!
Perhaps, try giving blood beforehand, start extracting oxygen from the room and deprive yourself of air... stuff like that. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> That quite drunk, but wasted.
(No offence meant to anyone, I was kidding. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
Then following that for about the next 4 days we were doing a few hour sessions of gaming a day, being all sleep deprived and drunk <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I went to my local LAN place last Sunday. It was the first
time I had ever set foot in a LAN place so I wasn't sure what
to expect. Luckily I was with a friend and we just paid the bloke,
sat down and had a browse of what games were installed.
There was a nice list, everything from Operation Flashpoint, to
Raven Shield and Enemy Territory. But no Natural-Selection <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->
For some odd reason there were only about 5 people in the LAN
place at the time, 3 of us were actually on a game and 2 were talking
to each other. Myself and my friend were playing Counter-Strike and
Day Of Defeat against each other (no bots installed and we couldn't be
bothered to hunt down a server) and the final person there spent
his entire time on that Habbo Hotel thing.
So it was a little disappointing, paying ?2.50 for something I could have
done in the comfort of own home.
But it's probably alot better when there's more people, probably ever
better with people you know.
Just prepare the following:
- Dissapereance of parents for a week
- Food and drink
-Paid electricity bill

AMD 2800 on a Asus nforce 2 deluxe mobo.
1 gig DDR ram
x 80 gig hd @ raid 0
and my pride: Radeon 9800 pro 256 megs <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Now i can finally fly the jetpack !!
offcourse this is only a section of the entire hallway <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
My beloved LAN is of course <a href='http://www.quakecon.org' target='_blank'>Quakecon</a> (and no, its NOT just quake). LANning is great, but LANning and getting to hobnob w/ id Software, Raven Software, and co. just takes the pwn cake. :D
I'm still recovering from this thing... the fact that I worked 8hrs straight didn't help....
For some odd reason I can't stop listening to the following songs...
Antiloop - In My Mind
Antiloop - Purpose in Life
Antiloop - Start Rockin'
SAVE ME JEEBUS
yay wireworld!
Serious Sam is also good for a lan
We've got something down here called WALan. 500+ geeks packed into some giant venue. The... last or second last one was my first LAN of any kind, actually. It seemed that people were mostly interested in leeching off each other and IRCing. There was a bit of Quake 3, a bit of CS, a TFC server or two (with a handful of people on)... but mostly leeching. Leeching EVERYTHING. Is that common LAN phenomenon? It was boring as hell...
