Simple idea
Sometimes you dont like how your marine spawn looks, especially when it needs strong fortification like on most funmaps.
So why not using lots of weldable walls with a short weld time to redesign the shape of your base every round?
Of course each weld-closed wall here opens another wall nearby to make you ask, should i or not ?...

instead of welding you could use buttons that are just pushable the first 5 minutes.

or a wall building could be implemented into NS, so you wouldn't have to spend so much time maping...

yes, its a good idea. however, i think weldables block bullets, so maybe have a pannel of "broken wires" and when you weld the a individual wire a toggleable wall comes into existance so you could still fire through a un-finished wall, but when the wall goes up everything's blocked.

That could be kinda cool, you could change the layout of your marine base so that the level would play out differently each time. What about some force field walls that require a weld before they become active?

I wish there were more weld spots on the maps in general. Would be cool to have some rooms that are dark and you need to weld some generators to get the lights up. Or even some resource nodes that start off that require a junction box to be fixed before they start pumping out resources. Some other things like lifts that require the panel to be fixed before it would function.

Sound very kool, just make sure you have obvious weld signs or youll get a bunch of players standing around wondering what to do.

    ah can be much easier.
buttons that only the commander can reach in comm mode.
and after 5 minutes the buttons are inactive.

I think lots of weldables would screw up performance, but a few more would be nice for a funmap

have a limited number of func_pushables, have a bunch of trigger_onces that can only be activated by a pushable, have that trigger trigger a wall section limited walls booyah

Weldables in maps like ns_seige006 would be a nice touch.
And having func_breakables with damage quantity needed to break it set to a high value would push the aliens to team up in order to bring down a func_weldable that has been set up as a defense.

meh, here is an example of my idea. small, compact, and with a slight bug.
