It looks good, but in general is too plain or generic. Pic 1:The pipes are cool, but try to not make them so symetric. That's a big fault of mine. Make this somewhat random and you'll find it's more pleasing to look at. Also, try using spot lights. A good excuse to put some of those in is having some nice support beams on the walls or something. Use white and whatever color you want in conjunction to make a nice contrasting color scheme. And just add more general detail to the geometry. Pic 2: Here again things are just a bit too general. i'm sure you can make a room that's got more than just flat walls and some pipes to frame it. Also, for such blue lights, the lighting is quite... not blue.
Fix that stuff and i think you have something.

The orange comes from the orange light in the floor.
I'll work on it some more tonight, and I'll keep those points in mind.

    Quick tips:

    Break up the walls.
Give them more depth in some sections.
Hives are NEVER so opened. Enclose it more.
Put in support beams for the pipes. Put some at 45 degree angles. And lit them with light_spots.
Raise the ceiling, put the hive higher.

I think it looks pretty good.

I think it looks good, a little bland though. I agree about breaking it up a little, add some random details, such as a water pump on the pipe on the ceiling or something like that. Looks good though.

Taking into account various comments in this thread, I present you with...
The hive 2.0! Complete with supports for that huge pipe and a larger room, plus more lighting.

I think the pipes could use a little steam or something. Also having infestation piled along where the wall and floor meet would be cool too. Since the aliens are supposed to be bacteria based, keeping infestation off a coolant pipe was a good idea... that said you might want to think about adding some more underneath the lights. Some func_illusionary infestation that spans the water would be kind of cool too. Overall you're off to a good start though. It's even a nice hive to defend against jp's in, which is something that seems to be a big consideration around here.
