I know the marine spawn is a bit flat and big but ill work some more on that

and the Big room wich will be 4 ways out from the marine area (all will lead to a hive(4hives)) is not ready yet.. ive just started

    It's pretty obvious that this is your first map. It's good, but NS is very hard to map for if you're new to the whole thing. Keep that in mind.
    I like the hallway, very eclipse-like. But 4 hives? That's not going to become official (or be played much)

    I like the look of the Hallway pic, looks quite nice.

    I personally would avoid using half-life textures in your map, which I can see a few of. I think it takes the feel away from the map andgives it a science lab feel.

    I think it all looks ok for a first attempt, a bit empty as such. NS is very hard for new mappers and I would suggest making a funmap to get used to everything.

    I've made maps for TFC and CS but I'm gunna start making a NS funmap to get my bearings with everything new in NS.

    omg the "elite" image compressors are among us! Someone on this forum said something very valuable: If you have a plain wall larger than 10m or so you must have done something wrong. Try to get something between the plain concrete or use textures that have details included (infestation, pipes...). For the water: As Half-Life does not shade water you have to choose a texture that fits the sourrounding light. Search for something yellowish and set the renderamt to ~128 to make it transparent. This also helps with the color thing as the floor under the water shines through. Very nice first attempt! So far I have heard the first 3 maps or so wont make it far, but I think your third map whenever you will make it will be good enough to be played on one or the other server.

    first attempt, huh?

    my first attempt was 4 square rooms in poorly fitting textures, connected by 6 (very) ugly corridors with equally bad (or worse) texturing. and I had no idea as to how to place hives, ccs or use texture lighting.

    good job!

    (but if I have to play a map with that much yellow lights, I will poke my eyes out)
