<div class="IPBDescription">we need a better one.</div> You guys think the half life 2 engine will be good enough, i mean all the mods are great, but a mod like this, NS deserves the bells and whistles that the standard half life engine cant supply, i love this game, everything about it, and i must say this is the best job at making a terrible gfx engine look great, sure it old, very old.. basically what i am asking is when do you think thier will be a new standard? so we can do away with aging gfx of the half life engine

*edit* engine, a new engine, not mod. ****. *slaps self*
As for standards i think the HL2 team will give a good idea of what poly counts would be good for what computer level. Obviously you wont want to design NS on Source unless you use its potential. I.E you dont use a great engine and make low poly models for it. Sure it'll be nice for the crap computers but there is no point in getting HL2 unless you have a good computer. It just wont be the same. Its like downloading a crap video-cam rip of a new movie (Discalimer: I am in no way encouraging you to go and do that) before seeing it in theaters. I'm sure Flayra will want to keep NS on HL because its so old computer friendly (and imo doesn't look as bad as you make it out to be) . I'm also sure that people with top-of-the-line computers will want to get a HL2 upgrade. Maybe we might end up seeing a divider of good/bad computers with HL2/HL.
well the thing is how can you be sure that h2 will hab the same atmosphere and same effects that will suit ns. and also will the system be able to handly a biggillion turrets and skulsks and fades and ono's rushing at each other ? that will be the quesiton rather then will h2 want ns

Of course it can handle it. The reason turrets and mines caused crashes is because of the programming fault, not the server. So no matter what server you go on, the number of turrets that causes crash are the same.
i tot only mines
I farmed the marines base in caged once
here a egg of mine in the spawn of marines
near the window near the comm seat you can(if properly positioned)place 4 turrets on the edge to shoot down at passing skulks but the pointlessness is that rt can get chomped
